Torreya State Park Campground

• clean, naturally and quiet

• no wlan and bad mobil connection

• restrooms are o.k.

• the laundrystation is not good

• rangers are super and nice

• visit the Gregory House and make a guided tour !!!

Just stopping for the night, arrived at dusk. Super friendly and helpful staff. Lovely site. Fairly close so not much privacy. 50 amp - not sure if there is sewer hookup - too many bloody mosquitoes so hooked up electric and went inside as I have water onboard. Did not need to unhook 5th wheel.

Torreya State Park has a small campground. I think 28 sites. The bathroom and showers are impeccable. It remote from any towns so bring some binoculars. If your lucky you’ll have a cloud free night. The morning bird song is incredible. The nearest town is about 19 miles away and has a population of 900.

Torreya State Park is tucked away by itself and has a smaller campground at only 29 sites, and it's part of what makes it a great place to get away. 

Small and remote means peace and quiet. The sites aren't very private, but there aren't many and folks seem to keep to themselves. 

The bathrooms are small but decent and well-maintained, and there are 30-amp electric and water on each site. Another nice feature is a very clean laundry area. It only has one washer and dryer, but the campground is small enough that doesn't seem to be a problem. 

Nearby trails, some accessible right from the campground, also make this a good spot to use as a basecamp if you want to get out and explore some of Florida's natural beauty. Also, Gregory House is an 1850s plantation home that you can visit for a guided tour and is within walking distance of the campground.

Fabulous trip. Hiking is awesome in the area. Hiking at the park is a little rugged. Garden of Eden nearby is wonderful. Small, quiet campground. Very clean bathrooms. Sites can be tight and are very close together. Sites 17 and up have great views of the sunset.

I wish I could give this park 6 stars! We camped on a quiet weekend in September and had the place mostly to ourselves. Two small bathhouses and both were spotless (I mean actually WITHOUT SPOTS, cleanest I’ve ever seen). The grounds were well kept and not a piece of trash in sight. They had aluminum can recycling which is always a plus! Tons and tons of trails, some more used than others but all well marked. History fans will enjoy the Gregory House and Civil War trail exhibit. Staff was AMAZING and super welcoming! We will be back!

Inland park that benefits from so many people wanting the beach! Lightly used campground that was very well maintained, beautiful, and a great place to relax. The park is beautiful, too, but the trails seem a bit challenging for me. I stayed a second night just because I was enjoying the respite.

Awesome campground with good amenities. Each site has fire ring, picnic table, water and electric. Most sites had good flora between sites, offering a little privacy. Restroom and shower facilities with a coin operated laundry.

Ranger Rob shared a secret, two campsites cannot be reserved and are always available first come first served. I got to spend two nights in one of those and it was great.

I found the hiking trails to be quite strenuous and not well-maintained in spots, but that's part of the adventure. I even took a tumble down a steep hill but made it to the primitive camp sites just to see them and get down to the river.

Great trails in the mountains of Florida. Campsites are narrow but long we had enough space to set our screen room up behind camper. Hurricane michael did extensive damage to the area. Trees and shrubs are growing back. Not much shrubbery between sites. Two super cool yurts for rent and a cabin. Campground is set above the ravine which makes for awesome sunsets. The trails can be accessed from campground. Most of the trails are pretty strenuous especially for Florida. Warning about copperhead snakes at this park so I would not take dogs on any of the trails.

There’s a hiking loop called the Great Challenge. It’s so difficult, meandering up and down in elevation for 9 miles, that you may give up. Camping is grand— so much wildlife. If you’re lucky you may be able to see a panther or an indigo snake. The campgrounds used to be lush but Hurricane Irma really did a number of the vegetation. However, it doesn’t take away from the enjoying the doors. The river is nearby and across the river allows hunting so you may hear hunters. If you come in from the river and try to camp, make sure it hasn’t rained a lot which could make hiking up to a campsite challenging. They have both dispersed campsites and drive-up.

During the week of 7/19/2020 I spent 2 nights at this unique state park. After settling in I found the view out of my back dinette windows to be unlike any I had ever seen in Florida. Futher exploration found even better views from the bluff over the Apalachicola River and wooded expanses. Just keep an eye open for bears and snakes as this is true Florida wilderness.

A Florida State Park that reminds us of the foothills of North Carolina except for the occasional palm tree. Toured the Gregory House a cotton plantation house that was moved across the river by the CCC. We made a trip into Chattahoochee, FL for lunch and a look at the Jim Woodruff Dam where The Chattahoochee, Apalachicola and Flint Rivers converge.

The hiking in this state park camp ground is really nice. You have some hills to navigate and it can be strenuous.

The RV spots are close together but have water and electric.

Very clean with hike in camp sites over looking river! Beautiful!

Small and cozy campground with clean bathrooms, friendly rangers and beautiful views. Excellent hiking too. But beware at night! The racoons were very bold and took anything that wasn’t tied down, including two different shoes and a tent stake bag. We stayed up to watch them and it was obvious they no longer fear people. They would climb onto the table while we were sitting less than five feet away. We’re used to having to lock up food at night but we’d have to tightly secure everything as soon as it got dark or they would come steal while you had your back turned.

Incredible. Park rangers were so nice. Beautiful scenery of the Apalachicola River. The steephead ravines are remarkable! Diverse flora. Rare animals seen: gopher tortoise, copperhead.

Love camping at Torreya! The rangers are fantastic. Tour the Gregory House - it's worth the couple bucks! 130 ft bluffs and great view of the Apalachicola River. Hike the many trails - we loved the "Torreya Challenge" trail! Visit the stone bridge to. Lots of history here and lovely campground. The woods even still have lightning bugs! Clean Bathrooms. The Cracker Cabin is great as is the Yurt - both are booked often and must be reserved in advance. easy access to hookups. A "must see " spot in North Florida!

Not far off the beaten path, Torreya is a gorgeous place! The entire park has so much to offer! If you are passing through...stop camp...enjoy! So many different things to enjoy for a nature lover! Kids will enjoy this one a lot too!
