Pearl Lake State Park Campground sits within Colorado Parks & Wildlife's Pearl Lake State Park, roughly six miles north of places to camp around Clark in the Elk River Valley. The campground runs from May through October and accommodates RVs up to 30 feet with full hookups, alongside drive-in and walk-in sites spread across two distinct loops. Reservations are strongly advised, and several reviewers note that booking well ahead is necessary to land a lakeside spot.
The layout divides into a lower loop along the water and an upper loop with open sightlines toward the lake and the valley behind the park. Some upper sites have stairs from the road to the site itself. Shore fishing and paddleboarding are permitted on Pearl Lake, though no boats of any kind are allowed on the water. Anglers who want to take a boat out typically drive over to nearby Steamboat Lake. A small store down the road carries basic groceries for resupply.
Cleanliness comes up repeatedly across reviews, both for the bathrooms and the sites themselves. Jamie describes site 30 as "right on the water with shade throughout the day," and several reviewers echo the spacing between sites as a consistent draw. Rangers make twice-daily visits. A hiking trail crosses the dam and climbs away from the lake into the surrounding forest. Campers looking for additional options in the area can also find Middle Fork Campground to the south or The Cabins at Steamboat Lake to the west. Late August tends to bring reliably good conditions, though any weekend site along the water will likely require an early reservation.
