Description

We have 50 acres - our nearest neighbor is 1/2 mile away. Our campground is our home - we are not commercialized. When you stay at our campground, you are family! Our guests are spread out and there is plenty of room big rigs. All of our sites are pull through. Our tipi is located quite a ways from other sites. It is an authentic Native American tipi.

We purchased our property because of its location - nestled in the valley with the Wind River Mountain Range to the West and the Owl Creek Mountain Range to the North. It is located just off the beaten path - so, it's very quiet, private and safe. Many of our guests are on their way to or from Yellowstone and the Jackson Hole area. Some of our guests will camp at our place and take day trips to places nearby - Thermopolis, Dubois, Lander, South Pass City, etc!

In 1983, Jim and I purchased our property - which, was simply a bare piece of ground with lots of sagebrush. We built our arena first, started hosting team roping and barrel racing jackpots (our last event was held in 2017 - due to Jim's health issues). The 2017 Great American Eclipse was a game changer! We were dead center of the path of totality. We opened our place to guests. It turned out that our place was ideal for viewing the Eclipse! We really enjoyed hosting guests that came from 10 different countries and 22 different states - we enjoyed it so much we decided to turn our place into a campground - hence the name Jim Moss Arena Campground! We have met so many wonderful people and we absolutely love hosting guests!

Plain and Simple - Great for One night

The campground is SAND with some scrub weeds on it, as expected in the middle of Wyoming. Paid over the phone, never saw the host at all, even as we were setting up and breaking down.

Definitely have your doormat out or you will track sand all over your rig.

Just passing through for a one nighter, you can't beat the price. Hosts were very friendly when making the phone reservation. Would stay again, but definitely not for long term.

Quiet and beautiful ranch

This is an amazing property. We stayed one night along the back fence. There were a few open sites all with 30 amp, and two with 50 amp. There was water next to the electric and a dump station on the way out. The owners invited us up onto the porch of the house where we also met the caretaker and other campers.

It is 20 minutes outside Riverton, WY for any fuel, groceries, food etc.

Perfect Spot for a Stopover!

I had a great experience here. I booked my spot then had to change the dates. Paulette was incredibly responsive and accommodating and greeted me when I finally arrived. I took a walk around during the beautiful morning sunrise and couldn’t be happier with my stay.

Views for miles

The hosts are amazing. They bend over backwards to make you feel welcome and comfortable. They even brought a wifi repeater and installed next to our camper to insure we had a good signal. 20/30/50 amp available. Community water spicket. Shower- rustic and super clean. Large gathering spot to include fire pits, grill, tables. Stars for miles. The resident poodle, Griz, greets you daily. The Wind River Mountains are about 45 min. away. Worth the trip. PRO TIP: Do the waterfall hike. 3.4 mi. Round-trip. Hiking along the river canyon.

Basic but good!

We scheduled a stop and we were not disappointed. It’s not full hookup sites but has electricity, some sites have water and there is a dump station in the back. Paulette is pretty friendly and her dog is absolutely adorable. He roams around like he owns the place ... 😜

Quiet at night and plenty of stars to look at.
