Russell Memorial Park

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Sitting along the waterfront in Jackson County, Russell Memorial Park draws a steady mix of RV campers and tent campers to its tree-covered sites just outside Merrillan for camping spots near Merrillan. The campground runs from May 1 through November 1 and is managed by the county, with full hookup sites including electric, water, and sewer available in the center of the campground. Waterfront sites tend to run electric-only and fill with long-term campers, so transient visitors booking those spots should expect snug conditions, particularly with rigs over 25 feet.

Site selection matters here. Waterfront spots are tight, and campers with larger rigs consistently recommend driving the loop before settling on a site. A few spots are paved and ADA-accessible, while the back section of the campground connects to ATV and UTV trails, with larger sites that have accommodated toy haulers. Trees provide shade across much of the property. "Water filling stations are all over the campground," notes Juliana R., though she adds that the dump station and water station are easy to confuse on a first visit.

Showers and restrooms have drawn consistent praise for cleanliness. Firewood is available on-site, and the campground allows pets. A small ice cream shop on the grounds operates on a cash-only basis. Nearby options for comparison include Clark County Russell Memorial Park to the south and West Arbutus County Park a short distance away. Booking early, especially for waterfront or full-hookup sites, gives campers the best shot at a workable spot for their rig.

Many visitors appreciated the waterfront location and friendly staff at this county park. Site sizes vary considerably, with tight spots near the water but more spacious areas for larger RVs and ATVs in back sections.

Beautiful lake/creek front

The camp has a lot of long term sites on the waterfront so getting on one usually gets you into spring and camping. The waterfront has mostly electric only sites and run very close to size. We have a 28 5th wheel and we're snug. Site said 25 ft but the picture had a 5'er on it so we booked it. The back sites are ATV/UTV site. They have good access to the trails. They seem a bit bigger. I've seen a few toy haulers back there. There are a few full hookup in the center of the campground but not many. The shower and restrooms were clean. There are larger sites just not all waterfront. We like to travel too much to have a permanent site yet, so we try to come spring and fall here

A gem!

Lovely county park with lots of campsites. Office staff is super friendly. Our site is right on the water... so calm and peaceful. Family friendly. Nice and clean. We saw the sheriff’s deputy drive through a number of times at night. Good to see them just making sure no one was causing any problems. We would camp here again!

Great ATV access

We stayed with a group for Memorial weekend. We have such a great time. Some of our group was tent camping and said the showers were nice and hot but tended to be a little muddy after awhile. Our site was a little hard to get into. We stayed at site 116 with a 40 ft 5th wheel. I would recommend booking early to get a better spot for a big rig. That spot would be easier to get our 30 ft travel trailer into. Water filling stations are all over the campground. It was our first time and we though the dump area was the water station. It was not. Other than that we would definitely recommend.

119 is paved ada 116 can fit a TT and atv trailer comfortably 115 - tight for a 32 ft travel trailer the trees are very close 132 - the area is below the street level which flooded out with mud

Trees, water, and space

This campground has a lot of trees for plenty of shade. There is a little ice cream store where you can purchase treats, cash only. The campsites across from the water are spaced apart well which makes them more private. Some sites are tight, so make sure that you drive around the campground before picking a site. ATV parking is at the front.
