Nicolet National Forest's Brule River Campground sits along the river in Long Lake, Wisconsin, operating from late April through early October under US Forest Service management. Access comes by car, on foot, or by boat. Walk-in sites, roughly 200 meters from the parking area, are large and include a firepit, bench, and picnic table. Site privacy varies depending on placement. Drinking water, pit toilets, and nearby hiking trails round out the amenities, and cell service is available. Campers exploring the region can also find campgrounds near Iron River across the Michigan border. Arrive earlier in the season to secure a site before summer crowds build.

In Eagle River, WI, at intersection of State Rts. 70 and 32/US Rt. 45, take Rt. 70 20.3 miles to State Rt. 55. Turn left onto Rt. 55 and go 5.5 miles to campground on left. From Iron River, MI, take State Rt. 73 south 8.5 miles to campground. The campground is physically located in Wisconsin, just across the Michigan border. NOTE: State Rt. 73 changes to State Rt. 55 in Wisconsin.
