Within Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, Michigan Island provides boat-in camping managed by the National Park Service. The campground requires water transport to reach, with rough access conditions that demand careful planning. Sites sit in forested terrain and include basic amenities like toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings.
Reservations are available for the $15 per night sites, and pets are permitted throughout the campground. The remote island location means campers should prepare for self-sufficient stays. For those preferring easier access, Stockton Island - Campsite — Apostle Islands National Lakeshore offers another boat-in option with similar National Park Service management.

A trail leads to the campsite from the lighthouse.
