Boat access sets Grand Isle Site apart from drive-up camping, requiring paddlers to reach this riverside spot along the Menominee River. The site sits within Menominee River State Recreation Area and costs $16 per night with advance reservations available through the state park system.
Basic amenities include toilets and designated fire rings for evening campfires. The water-only access means campers must pack everything in by watercraft, creating a more remote experience than typical car camping. Other campgrounds near Menominee River State Recreation Area offer vehicle access for those preferring road-accessible sites.
Description
There are four canoe campsites available on the Wisconsin shore of the Menominee River. Signs with a canoe and tent symbol mark the campsites. These sites are for groups of six persons or less. On the Wisconsin side of the river, campsites are only available by reservation.
At each site there is a fire ring, a cleared spot to pitch a tent, benches and a primitive latrine. No non-designated island camping is permitted on Wisconsin islands in the river.
