Overview
Lake Stephens Campground & Marina is a public county campground within the 2,300-acre Lake Stephens Park, operated by the Raleigh County Parks and Recreation Authority approximately 9 miles west of Beckley, WV. The park centers on a 272-acre mountain lake surrounded by 1,900 acres of hardwood forest, making it a popular destination for families, RV travelers, and tent campers. It is located about 25 minutes from New River Gorge National Park.
Facilities
The campground offers 100 full-hookup pull-through RV sites (30 and 50 AMP, water, sewer) and 27 primitive tent sites. Each site includes a picnic table and parking for two vehicles. Amenities include shower and restroom facilities (including ADA-accessible), laundry, a camp store selling firewood, ice, and propane, and a basketball court and playground within the RV area. Seven cabins of varying sizes are available year-round.
Recreation
The lake supports swimming (beach open Memorial Day to Labor Day), fishing, boating, kayaking, and paddle boat rentals via the marina. An Aqua Water Park and Sprinkler Splash Pad are available for day use. Multiple hiking trails are accessible from various trailheads throughout the park and are open year-round.
