Open space

Mossyrock Park is one of 4 day use/campground parks run by Tacoma Power. This one sits on the southwest side of Riffe Lake just above the Mossyrock Dam. It's a really lovely park. Lots of open space, playground, disc golf, dog park, beach area, concession stand, boat ramp, and several camping loops. The campground varied greatly in types of spaces and could accommodate tents up to fairly large RVs. We had a space in the Main campground that had 30 amp and water. The spot was paved with a picnic table and fire ring with a BBQ grate and a view of the lake through the trees. It was not very level though. We have an older 5th wheel that doesn't have a fancy auto leveling system so it took quite a bit of time to get everything level side to side and front to back. At one point, we had to hook back up to our truck to raise the front landing gear and add some blocks because we couldn't get the trailer low enough in the front. The spot really was nice though with plenty of space between spots. I do think we lucked out though because this was not the case in some of the other loops. Their spaces were a bit closer together. All in all, we did enjoy our time there. Our kiddo really liked the playground and getting ice cream at the concession stand after dinner. This park is family, dog, and fishing friendly. Many folks brought their boats right along with their trailers. We would camp here again sometime.

Nice Park

We were lucky and snagged a beautiful private-ish spot. We had a view of the lake and a lush forest.

Great camp spot

Very helpful staff. Driving through and tried to book online day of but you’re not able to. Called in and employee told me there was plenty of camping if we showed up late. Told me the park gate closes at 9 but it wasn’t locked and the sign said campers may enter until 10, just open and close the gate yourself. Quite hours start at 10 and it was silent.

Parked and rented in the RV area. S’mores loop is on a slant so I wouldn’t say they are the best campsites but the others were flat. Very clean facilities. Showers and flushing toilets. Great access to the lake and some good trees to hang a hammock. Some parks seem like RVs are on top of each other but not here. They are spread a decent distance. Spoke with an employee in the morning and they just seem to excel in customer service. The lake was gorgeous.

Great Lake access

This spot is great for lake access. We stayed in the north side of the Main campground which was great because we had tons of extra space and were backed up right to beach access. The beach itself is pretty rocky, not ideal for just playing in, but great for SUP or boat access. North side also gets substantially less shade so be thoughtful when setting up your tent if you are the napping type.

There is a dedicated swim area off to the west side of the grounds, but also pretty pebbly. More fun with sandals.

Quaint with Many Facilities

This camping is great if you do not mind having others near you or if you are fearful of venturing out alone. If you are looking for a secluded location, this is NOT the spot. This location had many amenities. My husband and I tent camped and it included ample space to pitch our tent, a small in-the-ground pit, and a table. We noticed many RVs and many sites had available hookups. There is a nice lake in walking distance for boating, swimming, and fishing.

Family friendly. No privacy

Very family friendly they have a (very) small playground. Lots of room for kids to ride bikes. There is almost no privacy though it's really just open fields with tents. My friend and I camped at site 11 which is considered walk in. We carried are stuff 200 feet and it was probably the most secluded spot but still not really private.

Mossyrock campground

We always enjoy our experiences while camping at Mossyrock, on Riffe Lake. There facilities are clean, the Rangers are great, and you mustn't miss at least having one breakfast at the little store/ cafe on sight. The huckleberry pancakes are to die for. Also, you don't have to worry about running out of wide, they will actually deliver it to you at your site.
