Riffe Lake stretches along the edge of Mossyrock Park, a utility-managed campground in Mossyrock, Washington, where the water is close enough that some sites back directly up to beach access. The campground spans multiple loops and sections, including a dedicated group area, RV-friendly sites with full hookups, and walk-in tent spots that sit a couple hundred feet from the parking area. Site quality varies considerably depending on where you land: the north side of the main campground gives direct lake access but offers little shade, while other sections have more tree cover and flatter ground.
Campers consistently flag cleanliness as a standout here. The showers and bathrooms are maintained regularly, and Don M. notes that "Birds Eye View has spacious sites," with grassy areas and a play area for children. A small on-site store stocks basics and serves food, including huckleberry pancakes at weekend breakfast. The park also delivers firewood to your site, which saves a trip if you arrive late.
Privacy is limited across most of the campground. Sites are laid out in open, grassy areas without much natural separation, and the park fills up fast on holiday weekends. The group site G2 accommodates a mix of tents and RVs in a large gravel lot with 12 picnic tables and a central firepit, though maneuvering a large rig once other vehicles are in place can be tight. Cell service runs thin: Verizon users report one to two bars, enough for calls and texts but not reliable data without a booster.
Water access is the main draw. Fishing, kayaking, and swimming are all available on Riffe Lake, and the beach, while rocky and pebbly rather than sandy, works well for paddleboard and boat launches. A designated swim area sits on the west side of the grounds. RVs up to 110 feet can be accommodated, with electric and water hookups available, and the dump station is on-site. Nearby, Riffe Lake Campground and Riffe Lake Lookout provide additional options along the same body of water for those planning a longer stay in the area.
Reservations are accepted and recommended for summer weekends. If lake access and full amenities matter more to you than seclusion, Mossyrock Park is worth a look.
