Campsites are super close together, not much privacy. We easily overheard our neighbors conversations and cars were driving by campsite frequently in the evening. Also, the water is pretty much blocked by the RV sites. The ground was mostly rock so getting tent pegs in the ground was difficult.
Penrose State Park has some of the best shoreline access in the Puget Sound area with good trails inland as well as great coastal access during low tide around the entire Penrose State Park point.
Bring a kayak to tour the bay and the Puget Sound or a fishing rod to fish for Searun Cutthroat…
We found this campground to have good sized campsites with lots of tall trees. There is good system of trails, tons of picnic tables along the river, and good river access to the Green rivers.
Campground is well maintained, clean bathrooms and showers available. Although walking distance to…
This is one of the most beautiful parks we’ve ever stayed at. Huge sites, clean bathrooms, beautiful hikes, etc. All around great place and we’d definitely stay here again.
The campground was full with lots of families with young kids (guilty as charged) but the sites felt relatively private and the whole park is heavily wooded. Bathrooms are clean! Caution: the showers are not near the entrance. There is firewood for sale, lots and lots of shade. The beach is a…
Quick handy campground 50 miles out from Seattle just off I90 and a couple miles east of Snoqualmie pass.
Classic forest camp sites set in mature 2nd growth.
Nice hikes along Denny Creek to Franklin falls, or up into the cascades.
There is some freeway noise, but when city friends stopped…
We car camped with our three kids for a few nights. It was like most state parks, so not super private or remote - but it was a good state park. The tend sites are wooded and private. Showers were cold. We walked down to the beach to clam for dinner, which was a neat experience for the kids.
We went here for our test run of our RV. Nice quiet area in great forest. Lots of hiking around, if you can find the loop. Electrical only. No water or sewer at the site.
The campground in general was very nice: playgrounds and a lake nearby, and suitably close to a number of small towns and the Alder Lake Dam to have stuff to check out.
Unfortunately, our campsite (53) wasn't trimmed back sufficiently, so the grassy area where you'd normally put a tent was about…

This is such a cool place to camp! You are literally right on an active airstrip. There are roughly 40 sites spread out along a long narrow loop, with some walk in sites. There are no services here- no water, no, wifi, no trash pick up, no campground host(there is a moderately clean vault toilet).…

Nice campground on the lake with several loops, and most sites having some privacy. The rangers were super nice. This campground is reservable and VERY busy. The vault toilets were clean(seemed new!), and the potable water was very good. All of the sites had picnic tables and fire pits. There are a…

Close to the city, gorgeous lake..
Right on the river on one side of the freeway, and hood canal on the other. Has some road noise for sure. Good hiking.
Cute campground very close to Seattle and Bellevue right on the lake. Beautiful beach area, basketball courts, playground, and volleyball right at the site. Spots are a little tight. Looks like they cater mostly to day use and corporate events during season. But they do take great care of the…
Great campground! The sites were really well spaced out and felt quite private. Close to lots of of great hikes as well.
