Little Pend Orielle National Wildlife Refuge

Remote and largely off the radar, Little Pend Orielle National Wildlife Refuge disperses campers across multiple clusters of five or six designated sites within the refuge boundary. No cell service reaches the area. Fire rings and vault toilets are on-site, though burn restrictions apply and are actively enforced. Grizzly bears have been documented in the refuge, so food storage practices matter here. Campers staging trips from places to camp near Colville will find this one of the few National Wildlife Refuges in the country that permits overnight camping at all. Starvation Lake Campground is a nearby alternative for those wanting a more developed setup.
