Free to access and managed by the US Forest Service within Colville National Forest, Frater Lake sits in the Colville National Forest near Ione, Washington. No pets are allowed. The only facility on site is a toilet. Campers should know that the area is primarily a network of cross-country ski trails, and the terrain makes finding a flat spot to pitch a tent genuinely difficult. Those planning an overnight stay may want to look at Nile Lake nearby instead.
Description
Frater Lake is 6.5 miles South from Ione and 1900’ West from Nile Lake. It is the Northernmost lake found in the chain of lakes along Highway 20. This area offers accessible toilets, picnicking and trails for hiking and biking. In the winter, there are groomed cross-country ski trails and a warming hut.

Turn left at the 1st cross street onto WA-31 S/S 2nd Ave/International Selkirk Loop S continue to follow WA-31 S/International Selkirk Loop S for 4.0 miles.
