Beautifully kept, right on the river

In character, this is more of an RV park than a campground. While there are some people staying just with tents, most have RVs or fifth wheels. Privacy between sites is limited, as well mostly find in such settings. But, still, I can recommend this place even to tenters. The park is wonderfully kept, there are group shelters where you can eat comfortably even in the rain and the cabins offered or nice – A couple of regular ones and a couple of open bunk cabins. All of them in good repair. The setting is beautiful in a verdant and interesting valley, right by the river. There is a small local bar/diner just a few steps away and a boat ramp on the same property.

Hot in July, some trash

Away from it all, had place to ourselves, very impressive scenery but some trash around, either very dusty or rocky and barely ok for our tents. Next time I’d rather go “dispersed”.

Quaint despite being on the road

Simple but very cute CG. Good sized sites, clean bathrooms right on little river currently damned by a local beaver and therefore good for a dip. Beautiful area with lots of options. The sites by the road are actually best IMHO because they are biggest and offer the best shade. Current cosmetic upgrades underway and will make it even better. A gem.

Location , location, location it’s all about the water

Loved the lake, loved the atmosphere but two rows back from the water isn’t quite as spectacular as waterfront. Showers far and older. At some sites it isn’t easy to find a level pad for the tents, ours had that issue. Also, inland sites are closer to the road and do get some noise - not bad but adds to the unevenness. Would def come back but get waterfront next time.

Launchpad rather than destination

Fine facilities, well cared for. A bit dusty in late July, to be expected. Most people there have cars and leave CG during the day to go boating, biking, etc. That gives it a more transitory feel than campgrounds where people launch there adventures right there and spend more time at their sites. Not quite the vibe we were looking for….

3600 ft up, cool & shady

We stayed on a Tuesday night at the end of July. At other campgrounds in the area the temperature was in the high 80s. At Bear Hollow, it was a wonderful 72°. The toilets were immaculate with hand disinfectant and air fresheners provided and plenty of toilet paper. US tons of space. No reservations possible nor are they needed. The sites are sometimes uneven and therefore better for fifth wheels or motorhomes rather than for tents but we had no issue finding a flat site for us with no neighbors. 5* for climate, shade and cleanliness. 3* for layout, privacy and inclines. The street is hardly used at night, no issues there.
