This free Forest Service campground provides 17 sites split between two areas on opposite sides of Big Meadow Lake, accessible via forest roads in the Colville National Forest. Campers can drive directly to their sites during the Memorial Day through Labor Day season, with vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings at each location.
The lake serves as the campground's focal point, complete with an accessible fishing dock that draws anglers throughout the season. Kendra C. notes that "fishing on this lake in a little boat will always be special to me." A trail system connects both camping areas and extends through the surrounding meadow to a lookout point, continuing on to an old shelter that's also reachable by car. The forested setting provides natural shade while open meadow areas offer expansive views.
Campers should plan to bring their own water, as no running water is available on-site. While the lake itself isn't suitable for swimming due to leeches, Lake Sullivan offers swimming opportunities just 15 minutes away by car. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis and allows both pets and alcohol. Road access requires attention during wet conditions, and the remote location means limited cell service for those seeking a break from connectivity.
