Fishing the reservoir and watching deer move through the hills above camp are two reasons campers return to Settlement Canyon/Legion Park Campground in Tooele, Utah. Set in a forested canyon with access to a nearby reservoir, the campground suits anglers, families, and RV travelers alike. Full hookups are available for those who need power, while dry camping spots at the back of the property give more space to spread out.
Cell service is essentially nonexistent inside the canyon. Reviewers consistently note you'll need to walk up near the gate to get a signal. The access road has a rough, dusty character, and at least one site has a notably steep entry, so drivers of larger rigs should ask staff about specific site conditions before pulling in. Weekend crowds are real. Sites can get tight on busy weekends, so mid-week stays or advance reservations are worth considering.
Donna L. notes "you'll love sitting around your campfire watching the deer scamper in the mountains," and wildlife sightings, including cows from a neighboring range, have surprised more than a few campers. The gate staff receives consistent praise for being knowledgeable and approachable. Nearby, Settlement Canyon Recreation and Settlement Canyon offer additional options in the same drainage. Tooele's town center sits just a few miles away, making resupply straightforward. Campers planning a fall trip will find the canyon's trees turning color in late September.
