Kanab Creek / Greenhalgh Trail

Bureau of Land Management oversees this dispersed camping area along Kanab Creek, where the Greenhalgh Trail begins. Campers can drive directly to sites, though the sandy dirt access road challenges larger RVs. One reviewer managed a 19-foot Scamp trailer with a Tundra but noted tight spots and soft conditions.

The area serves as an ATV crossing point for river access, bringing motorized traffic during peak times. However, visitors report quiet periods when off-road vehicles aren't present. Sites accommodate both tent camping and smaller RVs, with multiple spots available along the creek. Campers can stay up to 14 days at no cost, and the location provides cell phone coverage for those needing connectivity during their stay.

Late Night Drive-In

Got in around 9:40pm and there were just a few cars parked. Easy to navigate in our van. My phone camera does not do justice to the stars in the sky and then you wake up to this beautiful scenery. No ATV’s while we there so it was quiet.

Sandy roads on the river bank

We came mid-week in June. There were 2 other tent camp setups and several spots for more. We were able to drive our Tundra pulling 19’ Scamp trailer but bigger rigs would have trouble because the dirt is very sandy and some places are tight. This is the entry point for ATV’s to cross the river and ride so you will hear them all day/night. It’s a beautiful area and felt safe. There were day hikers and bonfires by the river at night. You can stay max 14 days.
