About

Bureau of Land Management

Buckhorn Draw is a stunning canyon cut into the Navajo, Kayenta, and Wingate Sandstones. Carsonite posts mark where there are primitive campsites where lucky campers might spot bighorn sheep running across the ledges. Camping in Buckhorn Wash is limited to designated sites that are marked with camping signs. Creating new campsites is not allowed. Reservations not available. If there are no marked and designated sites available when you arrive, find another place to camp outside Buckhorn Draw (Check out the Swinging Bridge Campgrounds).

Buckhorn 18-21 Fee area campsites

This is a cluster of 4 campsites scattered in a draw. Roads are sandy though so recon first. May be more suited to trucks and tenters instead of RVs. $15/$7.50 senior as of Jan 2023. Vault toilet at this cluster, tables and fire rings. No water, no trash, no cell signal.

Quiet canyon camping

Buckhorn Draw is a great place to bring friends or family for quiet, shaded summer camping. The San Rafael Swell is a gorgeous area in Utah that hasn’t yet been overrun with tourists. Buckhorn Draw Rd has a bunch of dispersed camping spots, of all sizes. There are a few campgrounds too, so if you need a bathroom you can go use one down the road a bit. The Buckhorn Draw pictographs are a sight to see, and the Wedge isn’t far. In the other direction, Goblin Valley is nearby, and there is a ton of hiking. I love this area and make a point to visit regularly.
