Great lakeside campground!
This is a great campground for staying a few days or for just a travel stop while traveling on I-40. There is an abundance of large (long and wide), level pull-through sites for RVs. The sites are gravel. The cell reception is excellent (ATT). We stopped here for a day of work while traveling on I-40. When you book on Reserve America, and even on the local map, the sites look like they are packed like sardines but that is not the case at all. You have plenty of space. There is a playground for the kids and a beach (we visited in December, so, no, we did not test the water...)
The lake is very rich in birds. Lots of them. We watched hundreds of cranes, geese, ducks, and many more (we are not bird watchers normally but it is hard not to bring out the binoculars). In the morning we had 10 grazing turkeys outside our RV. We will be back any time we travel through this area.
Ute Lake Campground
Stopped here for the night as we headed west. It was so nice decided to stay another night. Took kayaks out on the lake. Enjoyed the wildlife as the fish were jumping. Did not fish but will next time. This place is quiet and relaxing. It has many camping options from dispersed to full hook up. Highly recommend!
Meh
Was just a place to stop for the night. The sites are nice and roomy. I like how most were pull through. It was a little confusing to find our site. Most of the facilities were locked up.
Missing bath house
Made reservations for Ute Lake State Park arrived minutes after the office closed. Not a problem since I had our site number. As evening progressed we wanted to use the facilities and take a shower. They were locked with no sign of opening. There were pit toilets near our site so not a problem. When we checked with ranger station in the morning we found that facilities would not open till Memorial weekend or later. Web site needs to notify campers of the no facilities. The park it’s self is a nice park Verizon service is good but internet is spotty.
Clean, beautifully kept, covered tables with wind breaker wall
Such a nice place. Park ranger is friendly. Showers clean and well kept. Pullmthrymu sites, water views. $14.00 day for full hook ups! Bargain!
