Great spot for fishing and camping
This was a favorite camping spot where people with RVs still know how to camp. Most enjoyed campfires, fishing and visiting with others. We were there in January and the manatees were everywhere. Plenty of things to do in the area. There are many good places for riding bikes.

Was not a fan
Went to have a good trip on the river. When I booked the campsite I also rented a canoe for the day. When I got to my campsite the site wasn't a nice sized camp space and other campers where walking through the camp site day and night. There was a fight that broke out a campsite away. In the morning I went to pickup the canoe and park my vehicle. They gave my canoe to someone else and then told me that I had to park back at my campsite. Then I would have to pay an additional day to park at the campsite cause I wasn't camping another night.
Great Manatee and bird watching opportunities at this quaint campsite.
This was the first stop after picking up our Caravel Airstream (from Airstream of Tampa). The campground is quaint, clean and easy to find however the spots are a bit tight and spaced fairly closely together. "Backing in' to spot #49 was a bit of a challenge as this is a fairly new hobby for us! Everyone we met was super friendly. The campsite has their own dock (next to the Trading Post) where you can rent canoes and kayaks. You can see manatees and numerous native birds. We will absolutely be back!

Smaller Campground - Awesome River
Campground is on the smaller side (compared to a state park) which was nice. Bathrooms were big and clean - which everyone appreciates. Fire rings are around - but weren’t necessarily at each camp site. And I’m saying that, most of them didn’t have a cooking grate with them. Not make it break but it changes the way you can cook or how you plan to cook. Nice dog walking trail and there were plenty of dogs. All well behaved for the most part.
The river is a quick walk from the campground with a boat rental option as well as a regular launch if you bring your own. Great kayaking - we didn’t bring our fishing gear but we wish we had. Even so, saw lots of fish in the water and spent a good part of a day on the water.
All in all, this is definitely somewhere we’d go back to.
Nice Campground with Great Springs and River
I have stayed here several times and it is a nice spot to stage for visiting Homosassa, Manatees and the greater Crystal River area! The campground has a tent-only loop and an RV loop and nice showers and even some recreation on-site. They have a boat ramp to go kayak, paddleboard, or boat and there are several springs on the river (The Chaz).

Great spot near multiple springs, rivers & offroading trails
Took a spur of the moment camping trip with some friends — my buddy called the campground up on a Saturday night late afternoon/early evening and they had a spot open. So, once our friend finished worked (pretty late at night - around 10pm or so), we made the 1.5-2 hour drive north.
We arrived after dark but had no issues finding our site. It was a great little spot to stay overnight to get our “camping fix” as well as have easy access in the AM to springs, rivers, nature & offroading trails.
Also - pet friendly! Big plus as one of the members of our group & myself brought our dogs (spur of moment wouldn’t have been possible had they not been pet friendly!)
Beautiful Springs and kayaking
We have stayed here before. The sites are tight! Must be prepared to take your time to get your unit in and out. The costumer service a one star for sure. Tried calling and emailing before our arrival and no response ever! We booked online. Horse flies and mosquitoes were viscous this time so bring lots of spray. Picnic tables and fire ring were at the site this time. Bring kayaks and bikes to enjoy park.

Great for partying into the wee hours
I know some campers like to have huge crowds and loud music late into the night so I book campgrounds that have a quiet hour policy. This campground did have stated quiet hours (and a no alcohol policy). They didn’t enforce either. One group had loud parties two nights in a row. I don’t know when they ended but I fell asleep at 1:30 and they were still partying. There was no security to speak of. There was a gate but it didn’t look like it had been closed ever so people drove through at all hours. If you want to party this place is a good spot. Sites are cramped but shady. Bring bug spray. Site #18 was tricky to get into but had a private side.
WAY better than expected
First time ever taking the camper out. Staff was extremely helpful and welcoming. Sites did lack a ton of privacy depending on your site, but campground itself was beautiful and very quiet. Our site was at the front so we did not experience any of the potholes on the property, but did see some while walking around. Definitely recommend site 3 as it is one of the largest sites with great proximity to everything. Bathrooms were clean and very close to all the sites. Best part was the close proximity of the river and the availability to rent a canoe. Went to Seven Sisters Springs for the day. Incredibly beautiful. Overall, great campground for a relaxing getaway.
FUN FUN FUN!
What a great time we had here! Canoeing one day, Kayaking the next. Lots of swimming in such a beautiful Spring -filled area! 3 Sisters spring was fun to swim in and out of the "HOLES"! Manatees, Otters, many Water Fowl, and Turtles! Trails to explore. Nice camp store. Nice CLEAN Shower/bath houses with hot water. The canoe/kayak staff were so very helpful and patient helping my husband in and out of the canoe, so important ! Need to go bck, there so much more to see!
Power Issues/surges
The first night we had power surges all night we were told that our spot had an old box that needed to replace. We had to move to A difference by the next day. The springs were gorgeous but make sure if you go you ask for a spot with a newer power supply so you don’t run into the same issue. The park help that lived on site was very rude to my husband and I was told by the store staff that he’s just not a people person. We have a brand new unit and unfortunately lost one electronic device due to power surges. Definitely investing in a surge protector for our unit. Don’t believe we will visit this campground again.
Love this Campground!
This is one of the best places to just chill in the water and swim through some caves. The river has a good mix of wild life and natural springs. You can see manatee easily here. The campground is quite and plenty to do there too. They have a play ground horse shoes, corn hole, and basketball at the front. There’s plenty of electric and primitive camping for your pleasure. The spaces accommodate a few tents and hammocks on each site. The bathrooms are clean and need a code so not everyone can use them. There is a local bar in walking distance down the street if you want to stay up and talk with the locals there is a 10pm quite time. That is the only downside because we were up hanging out late and were told to quite down by the owners or we’d be thrown out after we were drinking on the river all day. It was only 10:15 and barley anyone at the campground.

Beautiful river
This is a campground located in the swamp. That being said it's buggy, wet if raining. The restrooms are clean and modern. The river is the draw. Canoes and kayak rentals are available. There is also a fleet of fishing guides available. The river is spring fed shallow and beautiful.
Beautiful water year round!
I love camping and going in the springs. The nature is abundant here. Myself and my family and friends have been going here for years.
Quiet place to stay near the springs
This campground is very close to major Springs such as weeki watchi, three sisters, and homosassa. There is a boat ramp in the campground where you are able to take a short paddle to a spring head. The campsites themselves are large and shaded by nature trees. This campground is also pet friendly.

Beautiful views
Love the access to the river for kayaking and swimming. It’s absolutely beautiful
tight fit.
they love to pile the people up here. dont expect much privacy here.
nature lover paradise
springs, fishing, boat rentals
Water Activities!
This small little park is full of water activities. There is a Spring right on site that is great for snorkeling and swimming. You can rent kayaks and canoes, or bring your own boat for a day trip. I saw Air Boats and Fishing Boats. There were also a lot of people paddle boarding. One exciting part of my stay was the manatees! They were everywhere!
There are two different areas for camping. One site is for campers/RV's and the other is tents. The tent site only has porta-pottys, while a really nice bathroom (you needed a code to get inside) with showers is located within the camper section. It is not a far distance between the camper and tent area so its a quick walk if you're not a fan of the portas!
There is also free wifi around the park, a building with a TV and indoor activities, as well as an outdoor basketball hoop, volleyball net, horseshoes and corn hole. Needless to say, this small park, was full of things to do (especially if you bring your kids). The camp store had anything you needed (similar to a gas station store as far as products) and they ladies inside were very friendly! If you wanted to rent kayaks and canoes you could (recommend doing so very early in the day, especially on weekend) and the workers unloaded and took the boats to the water for you. There were also "canoe lockers" if you brought your own boat and didn't want to take it to and from your site every day.
Meh...
Kinda hard to find. Sites (we stayed in the tent site) are pricey for what they are... Small, less than stellar. They also charge by the person over 2 people. Main bath house was far away and the only other facility option was some porta potties... Yea no. Also the sites are close together and very LOUD. Little enforcement of noise policy. They will also charge you extra for parking down by the dock, even with a site. I only would stay here again if I wanted to be on the water as it does offer a nice docking area and there is no other camping option in the area.
Nature atmosphere
Prefect place to get some down time! Staff very helpful and professional!!! We biked another location that turned out to be horrible we called the staff they got us right into a spot before they closed 🙋🏻❤️Enjoyed our stay 🚣♀️
Wonderful Family Friendly Campground
In Florida you want to camp near water in the summer - especially the springs! This lovely spot can be found down a windy road and right on the Chassahowitzka (or Chaz if you are a local) River. There are a variety of campsites available - great for tents (primitive - no water/elec) and RV's/hookups. Most sites are well shaded. They have pavilions and a store/ office. Most of the buildings are older and musty - but this is old Florida...You must call in advance to reserve sites - even for tent camping and verify their hours if you are a late arrival! The real bonus of this location is the river access - located just a hundred yards across the river from 7 Sisters Spring. You can kayak/canoe the river for days and not see all the springs. Tons of wildlife from birds to manatee - even a couple alligators. Fishing the river is wonderful. Note you have to leave vehicle at campsite if you are launching your canoe/kayak - no parking near launch. They also rent canoes/kayaks. If you need a break from the river there are many attractions and restaurants close by in Homosassa and Crystal River. Yulee Sugar Mill State Park is a very quick roadside visit with hte historic print museum and great Cuban sandwiches right next door. The Homosassa Wildlife State Park features Florida natives and the only hippo that is an "official localresident"

Free diving and paddling mischief
I came to this area knowing about the limestone sinkholes for free diving under the river. Which disclaimer, should only be attempted by experienced divers very comfortable under the water. There's one main one that's good for average divers though people have died here so don't go trying things above your level as conditions change and blocked tube you won't get out of. You are going to however get an amazing paddle both directions up the river from the main rental site. Make sure you time your paddle to be at higher water levels so that you can make it into the beautiful underwater canyon. An underwater camera will really help you here. Easy camping, manatees and really enjoyed it and would go back.

Ranger Review: LuminAID color LED lantern at Chassahowitzka River Campground
Campground Review: Chassahowitzka River Campground is located in Homasassa, FL only about one hour from Tampa. This was our first time here and although the campground is small, they have lots of amenities.. Full hook-ups, well-shaded sites, playground, gathering pavilion, sand volleyball court, immaculate bathrooms, kayak & canoe rentals, boat ramp, convenience store/office. The main draw here is obviously The Chassahowitzka River and all of the springs located off its tributaries. Since we only had kayaks, we were limited to our exploring within a few miles. We went to seven sisters, the rope swing & The crack . Definitely going back with a jon boat or something with a small motor so I can explore more. A beautiful part of Florida that I had never seen in my 26 years here.
Product review- I used the luminAID color changing solar lantern to see while we made homemade icecream at dusk. Just enough light to monitor the ice and salt in our freezer. The color changing LED is a cool effect and the fact that it collapses for storage and takes up very little space is a must when you are traveling.
