Very nice full hookup in quiet part of Garner

We’ve been coming to Garner for over 25 years. Tent camped, stayed in the screened shelters, and recently RVed, but this is the first time I’ve stayed in this camp ground. I like that it is in “Old Garner”, so it is close to more of the trails, the main swimming area, the store, etc. but it is far enough away to be free of the noise and other activities that go with Old Garner. I’ve stayed in Okd Garner in the winter because it isn’t so busy and things are more chill (pardon the pun) but stayed in New Garner in the Summer to avoid the noise. Here I get the best of both - and this site has Full Hookups (look for the Pull thrus, as not all have full hookups). In short, this can’t be beat. I’m the only draw back is the sites are narrower (at least the pull thrus are) and the picnic tables are not covered. Not enough to even shave a little off the 5th Star, but that is my only complaint.

Great Family Fun

The floating, tubing and swimming are great! There are several hiking trails with awesome views. The park is crowded most of the summer, especially weekends and holidays. Planning ahead is essential, but the new day use reservations will make things easier. We gave camped and visited Garner for over 40 years.

Amazing!

This is a beautiful park west of San Antonio . The water is clear you can see your toes. Rocky bottom so you need water shoes. Gets very packed . I love it!

Best park I've been to so far!

The best thing about this area was the view I could get at the top of mount Baldy. Such a gorgeous sight and a fun climb up! The park was clean, people were friendly, and the area I camped at wasn't in Garner (the sites right across the river) but it was still a great spot next to the river. Only downside was when we went to go floating, the water was super low, but that won't stop me from going next year! Because of the all the different activities you can do, there's never a dull moment!

A Week @ Garner State Park

We went during spring break and although main areas could get pretty crowded their were many trails you could hike without seeing anyone and still get a spectacular view of the Hill Country. Plus after each hike you can celebrate it with a cool soak in the Frío River and a slow dance at night to the park store's jukebox. It's definitely a great place for the family.
