Hike-in access and no fee define the basic terms at Cross Timbers Texoma Hiking Trail Primitive Campsite, a US Army Corps of Engineers site along Lake Texoma near campsites near Gordonville. The access is noted as rough, so expect uneven terrain on the way in. Campfires are permitted and pets are welcome. Water levels on the lake can vary considerably, and the exposed lake bed becomes walkable during low-water periods. This site makes sense for backpackers comfortable with minimal amenities and variable conditions. Nearby, 5 Mile Camp Primitive Dispersed Camping offers a comparable primitive option a short distance to the west.
Description
If you wish to camp along the trail keep in mind there are wilderness camps scattered throughout but you must carry in your sup- plies (water, food, fire wood, etc.). If you’re not up for roughing it in the woods there are also recreational areas that provide run- ning water and bath-houses.
