Best Cabin Camping near Grapeland, TX

Several cabin rental options surround the Grapeland area in East Texas, offering amenities that range from basic to fully-furnished accommodations. Salmon Lake Park & Resort provides cabin rentals within their Old West-themed property, while Fort Boggy State Park Campground features modern cabin facilities with electric hookups. Lake Limestone Campground and Marina offers cottage rentals with electrical and water connections for visitors seeking waterfront accommodations. Cabins typically include electricity and basic furnishings, with some providing water hookups and bathroom facilities depending on the location. "Beautiful, modern cabins with enough space for our family of 6. Love the enclosed porch and open porch as well," notes one review about Fort Boggy State Park's cabin offerings.

Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. KOA properties like Rusk KOA and Lufkin KOA Journey provide standardized cabin accommodations with amenities like picnic tables and nearby shower facilities. Most campgrounds require reservations for cabin stays, particularly during summer months and holiday weekends. Pet policies vary by location, with many allowing pets in designated cabins for an additional fee. The Ranch at Walton Springs and Yellow Rose RV Park both permit pets in their cabin accommodations. According to a review, "We would definitely come back here again. Nice little spot right off the feeder road tucked back into the trees with clean bathrooms and showers."

Visitors should check what supplies are provided before their stay, as amenities vary significantly between properties. Most cabins include beds with mattresses but require guests to bring their own linens, pillows, and towels. Kitchen facilities range from none to basic microwave and refrigerator setups, with some properties offering outdoor grills or fire pits for cooking. Several campgrounds maintain on-site stores for essentials, including Salmon Lake Park, Rusk KOA, Lufkin KOA Journey, and Bethy Creek Resort. Seasonal availability affects cabin options, with some properties closing or limiting services during winter months while others like Yellow Rose RV Park operate year-round.

    Salmon Lake Park & Resort

    Underrated & unique family fun!

We have camped at Salmon Lake many times. It is a favorite of the kiddos. The original owner was a house mover, so there are all kinds of old "western town" type setups..old jail, old barber shop, tons of old cars etc. It is fun just to walk around and look at them all. On some visits there is a train ride that runs, but not always. Some of the buildings are cabin rentals. We have never rented a cabin, only done RV camping, but the cabins look so neat!!

There is a playground by the lake and The lake is gorgeous and the kids like to swim in it. It has a giant slide for them and a swimming dock in the middle. It is like a step back in time to the simpler days, very no frills camping. We have brought dirt bikes and small atv before. Owners are ok if you bring them, just be respectful and don't tear anything up. The owners are great hosts and super nice.

All the spots are different (there are 100s of spots...they don't reserve spots. you just get there and then go pick one.)  There is a wooded section of sites behind the lake, but have never camped in that area. We usually pick a spot in the field near the big fire pit or tree. Most sites do not have fire pits or tables, but we usually find one near a fire pit or table with no problems. Be sure to check the sites before you unhook...some have full hookups, some have sketchy looking electric, but we just check everything before unhooking and use a surge protector.  We always look for full hookup sites and have never had a problem finding one way away from other campers. 10/10 one of our favorite campsites and a seriously underrated spot. We always say it feels like going back to a summer camp in the 70s-80s (in the best kind of way!!)

    Fishermans Point Marina and Resort

    Limited tent sites

We went to check this place out to reserve for a family camp trip. The grounds are clean and spacious. They have wonderful cabins and RV sites. The only have 5 tent sites. There are no tent pads and the sites are on a small hill. The picnic tables are limited and not every tent site has one. There are no fire rings so it’s a little unnerving building a fire on the grass. The lake and marina is wonderful and clean. They have all sorts of thing to do there. Kayak rentals, fishing charters, a cute little cafe. This is a place I would come to rent a cabin but not to tent camp!

    Fort Boggy State Park Campground

    Hidden gem

Beautiful small state park. We usually tent camp but this time we decided staying at a cabin. Nice, beautiful and modern cabins. Love the enclosed porch and open porch as well. The cabin was spacious enough for our family of 6. The new family restroom close to the cabins was great, nice and clean. I will be back.

    Lufkin KOA Journey

    Beautiful KOA!

We have never seen such a beautiful and immaculate KOA in our travels! It truly shows pride of ownership by the family that runs it. It is located in Lufkin, Texas and has lovely scenery including trees and a pond. This park has everything including large paved pull-through sites with 30/50 amp. Each site has a grassy area and picnic table. There is a great pool and outdoor park area to play in. Check out this KOA if you are in the Lufkin area. A true gem! 😉👍🏻💗

    Rusk KOA

    Great spot for the kiddos!

Super nice staff and full saturday breakfast (eggs/bacon/pancakes/coffee etc--extra fee, but very reasonable!)

Pool, jump pad, playground, trike rentals, Rock/gem mining slough, movies/events, etc.

Sites are level pull-through sites and most have a clear view of the playground, which gives the kids a sense of freedom.  They have cabins and cool teepees as well, but have only ever camped in RV here.

Have been camping here in the summers and both Easter & Halloween weekends and they do easter egg/candy hunts and have other events for the kids/kids at heart.

We love coming here and the staff are always very kind to us. (photos on this review are during the halloween event--we decorated our campsite lol)

    Lake Limestone Campground and Marina

    Diamond in the Rough

The new owners are going all out to make this a family friendly RV park/campground/marina. Only having it for 14 months, you can see the improvements made. There is a store on site for all your needs, that includes wine from the owners own winery. There a a grill also on sight. The campground is gravel pad sites that are mostly level (try site3). They have cabins if you don’t have a RV. Very friendly and eager to make your stay wonderful.

Our visit was a week before Christmas and the decorations were up and beautiful. Give them a try, as we give them a recommendation.
