Very Nice

Pleasant one night stop on a rainy night. It's worth a longer stay for sure, the TVA campgrounds are clean & well maintained. We're coming back someday to explore the area.

October

Stayed a week. Quiet campground. Sites along the lake. Clean campground. They need to clean up around edge of sites along the lake to make it easier access.

Excellent campground

We’ve stayed here numerous times in 2020 as it is close to our home. We are disabled & their disabled spots are some of the very best. Grounds are kept very nicely, bath houses are cleaned like clockwork, most of the staff (in 2020) new us well as we were staying every chance we could. The staff in 2021 is not as friendly & helpful I will say. We’ve got a large family birthday planned for October & we reserved 4 spots. The lake is great to kayak. The store is well stocked. This one is a very nice place to stay!

Nice lake camping

Cherokee Dam campground is a TVA campground and is similar to other TVA campgrounds I’ve been to. The campground had just reopened from being shutdown due to Covid, so the place was extremely clean. The camp hosts were so awesome, I feel like they take great care of the campground all year. The office/camp store had all the things you might need, including firewood, which they delivered to our site. We had site 36, lots of space in that one, and water views. There are some really great lakefront sites here, and the tent spots are great, note- they are walk in sites, and you can get in the water from these sites. There is a playground and a swimming area, lots of picnic spots, kayak rentals, etc. Several people were walking/running across the dam. The campground is close to the town so it is easy to get to. There is a railroad tunnel on the route our GPS took us, so if you are pulling a camper, you will be able to take a side road and go around the tunnel. This is a great lake campground.

Pristine camping

Cherokee Dam campground is literally one of the most beautiful campgrounds in the area! The grounds are so well-kept, and the lake is just breathtaking. The campground is near town, so you can grab some bbq or hit the local hardware store for anything you need. The campground also had a camp store for essentials. They even delivered firewood to our site.

The people running the campground were just amazing. So nice and helpful. Most of the sites have lake views. We were in site #36, and we were in our camper. Lots of space, no shade at all in this one. Most of the sites had some shade though. Picnic tables and fire rings at all.

I’ve noticed the TVA campgrounds don’t have many showers, so I was glad to have that in our camper, just be aware, you might have to wait for one if you are tent camping. The tent sites were awesome, right on the water, and a short walk from the parking lot. If you have a rooftop tent, you won’t be able to park at your site, so you’ll be sleeping in the parking lot, but you could make it work.

There’s a swimming area, boat launch, and walking trails. This is a great spot to have a great time on the lake!
