Old Mill Camp and General Store

If you are looking for the perfect escape, this place is an absolute hidden gem! The entire property is beautifully landscaped, and you instantly feel completely tucked away from the rest of the world. It is directly across from the entrance of Cummins Falls State Park! Site 12 is THE BEST spot! The last photo shows a better view of the campground layout.

Here is what made it a 5-star stay for me: 

The bathrooms and showers were exceptionally clean and well-maintained. 

The grounds are immaculate and peaceful to walk through. 

A general store with a little deli. Super convenient for grabbing a quick, delicious bite, souvenirs, and snacks 

Everyone working here was incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful. 

It is rare to find a spot that feels this peaceful and secluded while still being so well taken care of. 10/10 recommend! 

I had no issues with cell service: T-mobile There is wifi, but it is spotty and not too strong.

This is one of the best campgrounds ive ever visited, especially with children. Lots of shade except the couple spots toward the front of the bathrooms, we had booked spot 30 but they kindly let us move to 16 when we realized we needed more trees lol. The bathrooms were immaculate, the little playground was a blast for the kids, the little general store was very cute and well stocked. Cummins State Park right across the road had a nice short, easy half mile hike to the waterfall overlook, my 2 year old walked most of it. Our one-night stay was lovely. Only drawback was lack of laundry facility.

Very nice campground. Met the owners and they are a really nice couple. I was pleasantly surprised by the live music. I would stay away from the pull through sites by the bathroom if You prefer privacy.

We had hear difficulty getting our 42ft toy hauler into the campsite as there was an 16” stump on the corner of the site #5. It took 4 tries of getting closer and closer to the trees on the left side and barely missing them to get our camper into the site. Then that evening the water pressure was so low that the water barely trickled out of our faucets on the camper. We had to take showers in the “unheated camp ground shower! We won’t likely go to this campground again.

Large wooded sites, HUGE well kept showers. Cute store that serves sandwiches and ice cream. Cummings Falls State Park across the street. Friendly owners. You will have a nice time staying here.

This place is fantastic! Very clean, well maintained, super friendly staff. We plan to come back. The location across the state park with beautiful water falls...just the best!

I stayed here with my husband and two friends and we loved it. We planned to hike at Cummins Falls State Park so the campground was in a great location. Only having to drive a minute was fantastic. The bathhouse was clean and the showers were the nicest I've ever used. Single walk in showers with plenty of room. Only slight negative is at the tent campground, many of the sites were very close together. The weekend we stayed they were fully booked and we had site 31. Once everyone got in, it was a little noisy but nothing horrible. The campground is very nice though and would definitely stay again.

The campground is decent although a bit plain in the winter when the trees are bare. But right across the street is Cummins Falls State Park. This park is an amazing find and will blow your mind with the single best swimming hole in the US.

So we were unlucky with one campground due to space and knew we wanted to go to Cummins falls so we stumbled upon this while waiting for space. Very unique...it is literally right across the street from the state park entrance. Limited sites but offered primitive and RV spaces so it is perfect. Sites were plenty big but not many trees so your neighbors are gonna talk to you. You can’t be unneighborly here as it’s meant to be a community. General store was closed but it does look to have it all from ice, firewood, candy and ice cream. Can’t wait to come back to here!

The sites are nice and mostly level which is a bonus for the big rvs and there are some in the back that sit up against the forest so you have a bigger player ground. They did have a little area for a stage and playground for the kiddos so that makes it happy for everyone. Does have a locked gate so not everyone can get in which is nice as well.

We camped here in September and this campsite is one of the nicest and friendliest sites we've camped at. The General Store was wonderful!

Very nice. Quiet and clean. Smaller than it looks on the campground map but really friendly people. Bath house is top notch!! Very clean with separate, personal shower rooms with keypad entry.

Campground was easy to get around, well taken care of and the restrooms/showers were immaculate. They have a small playground for kids, and Cummins Falls right across the street which had all of the trails closed off other than the look out unfortunately for us. Not much to do other than that. Wifi was spotty. I liked that the campsites were spaced out and not on top of each other. The staff was very friendly, helpful and accommodating.

We have made this our yearly campground we go already once. This place is great they have everything campsite are big, bathroom and showers are together located in the middle of the grounds. The staff is amazing! It is family owned and they are probably the nicest people you will meet. The general store is key great sandwiches, wonderful ice cream, it also has all of the basics. They have plenty of souvenirs. It is a great place to go and relax. It is located right across from Cummins falls which is perfect for the hike. If you want to do the hike which I highly encourage it. We hike down everytime so far and love it. Pro tip if you want to go on the hike go early almost right when the park opens. There are les people which makes the hike more enjoyable. We can’t wait to go back and I hope to see you down there!

Just getting in from a fun weekend at Old Mill Camp in Cookeville, TN. Old Mill is a private campground directly across the street from the entrance to Cummins Falls State Park (the park is a day Park only and has no camping on site). Wide open sites with plenty of well established trees to provide shade. New, modern bathhouse. Hiking to the falls is adventurous requiring two creek crossings (that can be up to knee deep or more depending on where you cross) and some bouldering, but once you get to the falls it’s amazing. The area is right on the Upper Cumberland Wine Trail so lots of impressive wineries nearby. There is also 4 breweries (a fifth opens the end of Oct 2018) in the area. Oh, and you have to visit Ralph’s Donut Shop in downtown Cookeville! We’d really like to go back in warmer weather to take advantage of the many swimming holes on the hike to the falls and be able to play in the falls.

Just a short walk to the falls. Will be back if cooler weather!

This was one of my FAVORITE campgrounds so far! Had a great time here. We camped 2 nights here! They opened in October, 2017 and it is located across from Cummins Falls State Park, which has one of the most beutiful waterfalls I have ever seen! Beutiful scenery all around! It has a General Store and the grounds are a "family oriented," all the staff were SUPER friendly & accomodating & a pleasure to talk to. Absolutely Loved every minute!

This property is clean, quiet, family and pet friendly. Each tent and RV stall has its own picnic table and fire pit, spacing out each stall so it has fair privacy. If you don't care to grill or have a sandwich or ice cream at the general store on site the friendly owner will tell you where to eat in town (Cookeville). The entrance to the state park is across the street from the general store. All of the facilities you need are here, but I do have one critique, that is the smart light in the Women's restroom turns off after 20 seconds, I think it would be better to set it to 5 minutes. Otherwise it was a perfect stay.

This campground is one of the best! It has a general store on site that has some of the best hand scooped ice cream i've ever had. Owners are so kind and want to be sure that all the campers are taken care of. Very well kept and peaceful. Its located directly across from Cummins Falls State Park which has a 75' waterfall that you hike to and swim in the gorge below it. Wonderful Slice of Heaven!!!
