    Serendipity Resort

    different, in a good way

I enjoyed my 3 nights. I had a great view of a pond and a row of A-frames but the sites on my passenger (viewing) side were not occupied or I would have been billboarded. The  sites are very close together but the season is apparently over. Very little traffic even on thanksgiving. The roads are narrow and the trees get close. Th signage could be better but the host left me a text when I arrived and found me while I was waiting outside the office. Very quiet, no road noise or trains or planes. Just a little longer drive off the main highway

Small but clean. Very friendly staff. There are plenty of trees for shade. Nice pool, bathrooms and rec room. The laundry room is large and air conditioned. There is a dog park, horseshoes and cornhole. They offer daily breakfast and lunch and will deliver site made pizza to your camper. They also have a community garden.Very close to Memphis. The only downside is it has quite a bit of road traffic noise and a strange side road entrance.1

    EZ Daze RV Park

    Clean, concrete pads, good showers.

Ez Daze RV Park, Southaven, MS - We stayed one night in November. Easy pull through, level concrete site so we didn’t have to unhitch, very clean bathrooms and showers. They have two regular shower stalls which are extremely shallow and one ADA stall with pull down bench. We didn’t have much interaction with the staff because as soon as I walked in, about 4p, I was directed to find my site information outside in the after hours arrival box. Great if you’re looking for contactless registration or do in fact arrive after hours. There was debris in our space that must have been left by the previous camper and we had to get out and clear it before we could pull into the site. Appeared to be large broken pieces of a heavy plastic bumper. (Reason for 4 stars instead of 5) Strong wifi, cable reception wasn’t great. Code to the bathrooms, which is appreciated especially as the park is located in a business area and backs up to a residential neighborhood. Asphalt in front of office in extremely bad condition so be careful as you drive through. Nice office. They have plenty of long termers and there are two large receptacles outside the front office for package delivery. The park is easy access from I-55 and sits next to several RV dealers. Great place to stay if you want to have a look at some new trailers or motor homes. Also, a Tanger Outlet is just down the road. Full hook up, 50 amp site was $70, 63.00 with our Good Sam card which we think was a bit pricey. Oddly, there was only one trash receptacle in the entire park.

    Memphis KOA

    Amazing

From the moment we arrived, we had an amazing experience. The staff greeted us and our pups with smiles, cozies, and treats for the dogs. The site is well taken care of. The laundry and camper kitchen were great amenities. The pool was clean and a great way to cool off. They have a Cafe that serves breakfast and dinner. Dinner is delivered to your site. We will definitely be staying here again.

    EZ Daze RV Park

    Great one-nighter.

This was just a stop over fire us on our way back to Texas. Nice concrete pads. The sights are pretty cozy, but I have seen worse. When we arrived it was during the day and the office was open, yet all the registrations had been put out in the late check-in box for us to grab and go on our way. I realize the current time we are in but I found this to be very cold and not a very friendly welcome. There is a laundry here but I don’t really see any other amenities. Perfect for our one night stop.

    Sun Retreats Horn Lake

Really Nice, but mostly long term

This is a really nice campground just outside of Memphis, TN. They have a swimming pool, playground, covered party pavilion, laundry and lots of kids activities. They also have cabins for rent. This appears to be more of a long term rental campground, but it is a great place to stay if you are traveling there for the weekend for local events, baseball tournaments at Snowden Grove or a Memphis vacation. The campsites are very close together and most are in the sun with no shade.

    Memphis KOA

Nice typical KOA. Good BBQ sandwiches

This shot up to a 4 because the had great BBQ pork sandwiches.

Typical KOA, nice pool, laundry facility. The Cafe has breakfast and for dinner pulled pork sandwiches or Pizza not bad.

Workers are very nice and do a great job of keeping everything neat and clean.

Nice kids play area and pool. Dog walk area.

Nice big shade trees. Not all sites have shade but most do.

Give it a 4, we will stay here again. Next time I would like to stay lo get to take the shuttle to Graceland.

Sites are fairly level and gravel.

    Sun Retreats Horn Lake

    Deceiving Pictures

Pictures don’t show the busy highway RIGHT NEXT to the campsites. Very loud traffic noise all day and night. Surrounded by city. Sites are pull through and narrow, no privacy, small patch of grass, full sun. WiFi is limited to 3 devices (one pass code per device). We regretted booking the moment we arrived. If you’re looking to explore Memphis and NOT really enjoy camping, this is the place. Although the pool and pond activity (inflatables) were closed due to them being seasonal, the price was still steep, no less for less. It’s clean, but sadly, that’s probably all we can say we appreciated.

Guide to Burlison

Situated in Lauderdale County, Burlison lies within Tennessee's western edge, about 45 miles northeast of Memphis. The area features gently rolling hills and farmland at approximately 350 feet elevation. Weather ranges from hot, humid summers to mild winters, with spring and fall offering the most comfortable camping conditions near Burlison's mix of private forests and open countryside.

What to do

Water activities at nearby lakes: Serendipity Resort offers paddleboarding, kayaking, and boat rentals as part of their amenities. According to a camper, "There is paddleboarding, kayaking, and a small John boat included with the park. There is also a very nice spacious pool that is included as well. The pool is 11ft deep so there's no issues with using the diving board."

Visit Memphis attractions: Memphis KOA provides easy access to Memphis attractions just across the Mississippi River. One reviewer notes, "Close to Memphis, across the river. It's a great campground. The scenery is not spectacular but that's not their fault. Surprisingly quiet for being right on hwy 40."

Climbing and hiking: Take advantage of the observation tower at Serendipity Resort for unique views. "There's plenty of room to walk around and a fire tower to climb. You can see some great views up there," shares a visitor who explored the property.

What campers like

Clean facilities: EZ Daze RV Park receives consistently high marks for cleanliness. A reviewer shares, "The park is very clean and exceptionally well maintained. Perfect overnight. One exit north has everything you need; food, Aldi's, Walmart."

Quiet atmosphere: Many campers appreciate the peaceful environment at some locations. A Serendipity Resort guest noted, "Very quiet, no road noise or trains or planes. Just a little longer drive off the main highway."

Family-friendly amenities: Sun Retreats Horn Lake offers extensive activities for families seeking glamping close to Burlison, Tennessee. A recent guest explains, "Traveling from California with kids who have been at the mercy of cross-country RV parks- this was a reprieve for them, pool, bikes, playgrounds. We've paid $100 a night for less."

What you should know

Varying site spacing: Site proximity differs between campgrounds. At Memphis KOA, a camper mentions, "We stayed here for a few nights while visiting Memphis. It is a small campground right on the highway with a lot of traffic noise. The campsites were a decent size but the mosquitoes were unbearable."

Seasonal operations: Some water features and activities have limited availability during off-peak times. A Sun Retreats Horn Lake visitor explained, "We were staying off-season so there was no activities and they actually deflated the jumping pad, but my kids still had fun."

Road noise: Highway proximity affects some campgrounds. One EZ Daze RV Park guest wrote, "4 stars because it is next to an interstate highway so there is inevitable noise and not much interesting in the way of scenery. Other than that, this is a 5 star place."

Tips for camping with families

Water park access: Shearins RV Park provides a basic alternative when Serendipity's water features are too crowded. Though simpler, a visitor notes the park "has been at this location since 1955. It was originally a trailer park but has been converted to a RV park. Located in flat farm land a few miles from Blytheville."

Plan for extra costs: Budget for additional fees at water amenities. At Serendipity Resort, "The water park is a $20 charge a piece on the first day and goes down to $10 a day for the rest of your stay. Be advised you will be charged whether you are going in the water or not."

Consider rental options: Several glamping sites near Burlison, Tennessee offer equipment rentals. Serendipity Resort has "Yurts for rent and cabins. They all look well kept and up to date," according to a visitor who stayed there.

Tips from RVers

Level sites matter: Experienced RVers appreciate Memphis KOA's site preparation. One camper stated, "Right off the hiway. The most Level site in our 6k mile trip. Nice park w clean facilities. Easy access to the sites."

Full hookups availability: Elvis Presley Boulevard RV Park offers full hookups but has mixed reviews about surroundings. A visitor described it as "Just a rv park with nothing fancy on the Graceland property. Staff friendly."

Power concerns: Some RVers report electrical issues at certain sites. An EZ Daze RV Park guest detailed: "We experienced a problem with our Powerdog 50 EPO Surge protector getting an E1 and E2 code error from the pedastals. The errors state that if the power is above 132 or below 104 on line 1 (E1) or line 2 (E2) it will shut off park power."
