Lazy Daze Campground

Just under two miles west of downtown Townsend, Lazy Daze Campground sits along the Little River with direct water access from select sites. This small family-owned operation accommodates RVs up to 40 feet with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections. The campground operates year-round and accepts reservations.

Sites here run tight according to multiple campers, with about three-quarters of the property occupied by permanent residents. The layout creates more of a mobile home park atmosphere than a traditional campground feel. Water-facing sites book up quickly due to their river access, while interior spots cluster closer together. Full hookups are available throughout, along with a central dump station for those needing it.

Amenities include restroom facilities with showers, a swimming pool, and playground area for families. The campground charges separate fees for firewood, fire pits, WiFi access, and additional vehicle parking beyond the first car. Tammy P. notes the "bathhouse was very clean" during her stay. Wood purchased on-site has been reported as too wet to burn effectively.

The location provides access to campgrounds around Townsend and serves as a base for Great Smoky Mountains exploration. Book ahead during peak seasons, as the limited transient sites fill quickly.

Many campers appreciated clean facilities and creek access, but several guests reported problems with cramped sites and extra fees for basic amenities. The campground has many permanent residents, giving it more of a mobile home park atmosphere.

Small, and needs some upkeep

This is a small campground, it is a little worn. But it’s still quiet and family friendly. It is right on the Little River, and some sites are on the water. Sites are a little tight. Full hookups. Dump station. Pool and playground.

Better Options in the Area

I felt nickeled and dimed by this campground. I camp in Townsend often and I'm not typically charged for; a firepit, wood, wifi, and additional parking. Plus the wood they brought was wet and wouldn't burn. The spots were the smallest I've been too, we were absolutely crammed in there.

3/4 of the campground consisted of permanent residents and it didn't have an overall feel of a campground, but more of a mobile home park.

It was ok

It was ok - lots of permanent campers. Extra to have a fire pit, extra for wifi, extra to park additional car. the creek was nice. Bought wood from them but it was too wet to burn. Sites were tight.

Satisfied

The owner and staff were very helpful. We were allowed to bring our dogs, the grandbabies had a blast swimming in the pool. Bathhouse was very clean. They offer fire pit if needed. Highly recommend this place to everyone.
