Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid Memphis

Traffic noise from the interstate overhead creates a constant hum at this urban overnight parking area beneath the iconic Memphis Pyramid. Bass Pro Shops operates this free camping option in their expansive parking lot, where RVers and van campers park under freeway overpasses for protection from weather.

The lot accommodates big rigs on level pavement, with 24-hour security patrols providing a visible presence throughout the night. Matt F. notes "Clean bathrooms in Bass Pro while it's open," though campers should expect frequent noise from passing vehicles hitting uneven pavement sections. The location sits adjacent to the convention center, which can increase activity during events.

The Bass Pro Shops retail destination offers extensive indoor attractions including live fish feedings, alligator exhibits, and an observation deck elevator to the pyramid's apex for Mississippi River views. An archery range and shooting arcade provide entertainment options, while the on-site restaurant serves meals during business hours. No time limits restrict stays, and pets are welcome throughout the area.

Campers seeking quieter alternatives can explore campgrounds around Memphis or check Memphis East Campground for a more traditional camping experience away from highway noise.

Safe

It is definitely loud as others said, but after the store closed I moved closer to the entrance which was quieter. Security knew I was a solo traveler and noticed throughout the night they were parked nearby. They circled the parking lot every 15 minutes. Fun place to shop and eat.

Fine to sleep at, be wary of temperatures

Slept here 7/10/26. As other reviews have stated there is bridge noise from I-40 overhead. Something to take note of is it is quite hot and humid, didnt get below 80° all night more or less, and with the humidity it felt way worse. wouldn't recommend in the summer unless you have a decent AC system

Free Overnight, Security Presence, Noisy

First, what a unique overnight stop!  Considered the 10th largest pyramid ever built, it provides a host of amenities during open hours.  The parking lot is patrolled by a few security patrols the entire night.  There are no exact signs on where to park but you must park under the I-40 to the left as you are pulling in.  Creates heavy road noise but with our AC running, it hid the majority of the noise.  It was us in a Camper B along with one Class C RV.

Noises but safe

Its a good stop over while heading down I40. The pyramid is cool, and Bill in camping went out of his way to help me find what I needed.

Free and LOUD!

Spent one night here in our campervan. It's free and very convenient for walking into Downton Memphis. There is a 24x7 security guard patrolling the lot in a vehicle with a flashing light on top. Pretty much park anywhere under the part of the parking lot that has freeway overpasses above you. Ample parking but I think there were only a couple others parked overnight on a Tuesday. They also said no time limit. You don't need permission and I think the security guard was sick of people asking. Clean bathrooms in Bass Pro while it's open. The bad: It's really LOUD. Constant freeway drone noise, which wouldn't be so bad if there wasn't a pothole or some sort of uneven pavement every other vehicle hits and makes a big "clunk clunk" sound. Then the occasional crotch rocket or truck that is doing engine breaking. I think they also cleaned the parking lot in the middle of the night while we were here. So unless you sleep like a rock or have a very sound insulated vehicle, expect to be woken up from noise several times the night.

A good flat lot with security

Parked overnight with no issues. The spot is windy and loud with traffic going overhead on the overpasses. But it’s convenient, the pyramid is cool to check out, and it feels perfectly safe.

Pretty cool spot with Bass Pro

This is a lot for the Bass Pro shop an it is under the freeway making it noisy but it is big and level! We felt safe and did see several security cars go by. It is next to the convention center so I would imagine it might get crazy during an event. The Bass Pro shop was really amazing! It has so many things that the whole family would love. They have live fish (fed daily at 2:00), live alligators and lots of taxidermy. A whole room dedicated to conservation and ducks heritage center. It has a shooting arcade and an archery range. A restaurant and hotel. Fun for the whole family!! The best part is for $8 you can ride the tallest free standing elevator to the top of the pyramid and go out on the observation deck to see Memphis and the Mississippi River. There is also a restaurant here. Pretty cool free area to camp with lots of to do and see!

Epic a must stop But somewhat loud

It’s the Mecca. Come on down. It’s under an overpass so it’s odd but this place is made For RV and traveling folks. Not sure if you can park in back but if you can it’s much quieter
