Lynches River County Park

Lynches River County Park operates a small campground that draws visitors exploring the Lynches River corridor in rural South Carolina. County-managed and open year-round, the facility accommodates both RV and tent camping with electric and water hookups available at select sites. The camping area centers around a loop road with sites 1 and 2 positioned outside the main circuit, while sites 8 and 9 offer the most separation from other campers.

Sandy, shaded sites provide ample space between neighbors, with bathrooms featuring two showers each located directly at the camping area. Rita T. notes the facilities are "very clean with two showers in each." The park includes several recreational features beyond camping: an archery range, nature trails, wetlands boardwalk, splash pad, climbing wall, and dog park. A nature center and environmental learning center add educational components to the experience.

Access involves navigating rougher park roads, which some reviewers mention as a consideration for arrival planning. Cell coverage reaches the campground area adequately for most carriers. The facility often sees light usage, with multiple visitors reporting having the campground largely to themselves during their stays. For those exploring camping areas near Coward, this county park provides a base for river access and trail hiking.

Reserve ahead during peak seasons, though availability typically remains good throughout the year.

Clean quiet and spacious

I was impressed by the cleanliness and the amenities available at this campground. There’s a dog park, splash pad and climbing wall(hours depend on the time of year) There are also walking trails and a way to access the water.

Lots of room at the site so even if it was busy, still wouldn’t be too close to neighbors!

Wonderful Park

My wife and I were looking fora tent-camping place along the I-95 corridor in South Carolina during spring break and weren't having much luck.  We decided to stay here and it was a great choice.  They are doing a lot of upgrades to make it a place to actual stay and enjoy with a splash pad, climbing wall, dog park and horse stalls.  The RV/Tent sites were all sandy and shaded and very spacious.  The bathrooms were very clean with two showers in each (MF).   We stayed there on a Saturday night and had the place to ourselves.  The next morning we hiked the nature trail and wetlands boardwalk and other trails on a hour-long walk before hitting the road.  Looking forward to another stay when we pass that way next.

Relaxing stop along our route

What a gem of a little campground. Stopped here 2 nights driving from NC to LA. I was the only person here those 2 nights. This place feels off grid with the convenience of hookups. Despite being small, it was very clean, everything worked as expected. Archery range, trails, nature center. Would come back here just to stay!

Decent cell coverage. I stayed in site 1, there was a big clearing where I dropped the starlink - had great connection the entire visit.

Very nice area to camp

Camped here only one night as a layover on way to another destination. Small camping area with only couple rv sites with other sites for tent camping. Went for nice hike near river. Nice nature center. Plenty of things for day visitors to do at the park. Was even a very nice splash park for warmer weather activities and a nice archery range. Would visit again.

Quiet, nice sites.

Booking is easy, and staff are very friendly. Most of the sites are in the center of a loop road. Sites 1 & 2 have power and are outside the loop. Site 1 is back in, 2 is pull thru. Sites 8 & 9 are outside the loop and the most “remote”, with 9 being more-so. The rest of the sites are in the loop.

Great little spot for everyone

Awesome park about ten minutes outside of Florence. Has an environmental learning center. A canopy boardwalk in the trees. Kayak loading dock. And small campground with archery course.

Basic sites, close to home, excellent nature center

We had a Cub Scout Pack campout here, and it was perfect for us. There was a noisy group off to the back, but that was the only issue. There is no electricity unless you get an RV site, but we managed fine without. There are full bathrooms right at the campsites, and they are basic, but adequate.
