Best Glamping near Port Royal, SC

I’ve never “glamped” before, so I can’t comment much from that perspective. It is not a “luxury” spot. But for us it was better than that because it was fun, comfortable and easy.

About 15 minutes from Ridgeland proper with stores, dining, etc, Stonewood Farm is tucked away in the pines a short dirt road drive off a 2 lane highway.

Kim, the host, is friendly and helpful. She gave us a tour of the farm and introduced us to the animals.

Bring a bag of carrots for the horses.

My son loved the animals and exploring.

The tent/cabin is wood framed with wood and canvas walls. The mattress on the queen bed was awesome. But you will want to spend most of your time outside under the stars and by the fire pit. The area is dark, so good star gazing.

Arrived here for a four-night tent stay. Easy drive in from Tomoka State Park up I-95. Got the last spot at #62 which is very large and has a large tent pad. The electric and water hookups are on the edge of the street, so I had to use both the 75 and 25 foot extension cords to give power to the tent. There's a fire pit and a large picnic table. The restrooms are clean, as well as the laundry room. The dumpster and recycling bin are a bit far from 62, so bring your bicycle, lol. Deer were roaming the grounds in the early morning. Lots of birds singing at sunrise too. Great place. The 45-min drive up to Tybee Island Beach is totally worth it, with beautiful marshes and flatlands along the way. Beach photos included here.

My daughter and I stayed in the glamping tent at Stonewood Farm just before Thanksgiving. 

What a great place to unwind before the craziness of the holidays. Stonewood Farm is tucked away and offers the perfect blend of nature and farm life.  

All the animals on this off-the-grid Hobby Farm are rescues and really friendly.  My 12 year old daughter was in Heaven! She had fun with the horses, goats, dogs and especially the one cat who visited our tent and crashed our Monopoly game. 

The tent itself is spacious and has a tv/dvd, a heater and the most comfy bed ever.  We happened to be there during a new moon and could see a million stars and the Milky Way right over our tent. We could hear owls in the distance calling to each other.

Kimberly and Ed were amazing hosts. The campsite is away form their cabin allowing for privacy, but if we ever needed anything, they were right there to help. 

My only concern is this was my daughter’s first time camping in a tent and the bar is now raised high. Haha. This is such a unique experience, we will definitely be back!

It was our first camping trip/road trip, we had a roof top tent on top of our suv and skidaway island state park was our first stop! We checked in at the office, which had a beautiful gift shop and many supplies incase you had forgotten any. We were greeted by wonderful staff members and a park ranger. Parking is $5, they were currently out of firewood but thankfully Publix is not far. We made reservations for one night for a tent site which was not a far walk to the restrooms and shower facilities. Our site was very spacious and private and it was a pull through which was wonderful for our rooftop tent. The park is very clean and a absolutely beautiful place to stay, we decided to stay for night #2. The facilities, the sites, the roads were perfect! Also, sites came with running water, electric, fire pit and picnic table.Watch for the big raccoons and don’t leave your trash out at night because those bandits will come!

This is our favorite campground. Bring bikes and kayak- you won't be disappointed. We stayed here for 2 months and have been here before and this is one of our favorite places to come. The sites are gravel and level. Most sites are easy to get in and out of and not too close together. I have never felt cramped here. Each site comes with a fire pit and a picnic table. Location is great. Not right on the beach but a short walking distance.(NOTE: DO NOT WALK YOUR DOG ON THE BEACH- they do not give warnings and the fine is close to$300). North Beach is great- Great grill called North Beach Grill. Lots of history close by. Staff are amazing and so friendly. I would say the friendliest staff of all the parks I have ever been to. Lots of great restaurants. We camped at River's End Campground& RV Park in a Motorhome.  I highly recommend North Beach Grille, Cockspur Grille, and Huck-A-Poo - all are walking and biking distance from the campground (Actually everything is biking distance from the campground).

Easy to reserve online! Water and electric hookups. Arrived after hours, and an info packet was waiting for us. Only stayed the weekend for cheer competition at the Savannah Convention Center, approximately 30 minutes away. Unfortunately the rain was full on while we were there, our site got a bit muddy. Friday evening was nice, and we were able to make s’mores, with the fire ring that was at the site, also a picnic table. And there is Lots of space between sites, great updated playground for the kids. The bathrooms are clean! Cute on site info center….Lots of nature! Many stores and quaint restaurants near the campground. Would recommend and we would reserve here again!

Stayed at #52 and it was very private, level, and clean!

The gravel kept the camper clean; the deck with bench, table and chairs, gas fire pit was super nice; the grill with picnic table were awesome. The plot abuts the grassy area but wasn’t too buggy.

We went on a walk with our girls around the camp site, to the doggy area (small bjt super cute with some see saws, etc.), around the lake, and read the historical signs. We checked out the giant chess board, playground, horse shoes, and corn hole.

COVID restrictions were really well explained. Masks suggested, pool sign up with rules posted. We signed up for 6:30 and the team thoroughly cleaned between us and the precious crew.

The food and store was super and reasonable.

Next time I will def check out the nightly wine or beer tasting.

Can’t say enough good things - will def be back!!
