Everything you want in a state park

What a lovely, relaxing park. There is an area for day-use people, with boat rentals, a small swimming area, and playgrounds (including mini golf!).

As for camping, you have two options: a large drive-in section (each with electric and water), some near the lake, some more forested, and some…

Perfect primitive camping spots. There are streams near bottom of the mountain and the road does loop all the way around. The second entrance is about 9 miles from the first on the main road (276) which is right before cradle of forestry. We decided to go to the top. Water does run off from the top…

Not organized or clean

When we got to check in our spot we booked weeks in advance we’re changed and was given a smaller spot. The bathrooms weren’t clean and all and the spot numbers were hard to find. Other than that it was still a pretty good one night stay for our group. The power and water hookups were close even…

Mostly seasonal residential but…

Came here after escaping Van Hook Glade in Highlands. Most of the sites are occupied by permanent seasonal residents. They are all very nice people. We had a mishap arriving which caused damage to our trailer. 3 people including the owner rushed to help us. Quiet. Riverside spots. Would not have…

LOVE LOVE LOVE

We stayed at three different campsites throughout our trip (went backpacking 4 days, 3 nights - could have just set up camp and day hiked, buttttt didn't necessarily think that through).

The first campsite we stayed at was on the Green Valley Trail, the second one was on the Panthertown…

Beautiful creek side sites

The creekside sites were absolutely we're absolutely fantastic.. The kids enjoyed playing in the rapids and catching frogs. The bathhouse was very primitive.
It was great being close to some beautiful waterfalls!

Croft State Park Love

Our first RV experience with our first camper. Croft is clean with clean bathhouses. Camp ground A sites are bigger than B. We spent 3 nights on #29(B) mod slope to back in but easy leveling. 26 ft trailer with adequate room. All sites and road are gravel. B camp sites face lake Craig thru the…

Nice quiet, rustic campground.

We spent 5 nights here in early June 2021. The campground is pretty well maintained, and quiet. Nice showers and bathrooms on the higher numbered loop of the campground. Right on a well stocked river. Most sites will be able to handle a small trailer (we have a 17') or a tent. Class B's are fine.…

Most lots are unlevel

We really have enjoyed SC state parks but will never come back to this one. We had to move spaces because it was so ridiculously unlevel (other campers shared same experience). The only one we could get literally faced the street and had zero privacy. There is a full hook up area (rare in a state…

Shakedown trip with new first camper

Great state park. Easy back in some pull through. Spacious clean sites. Many historic hiking trails easy to mod. Horse trails with stables. Bike trails. Lake Craig is nice fishing with rentable Jon boats, kayaks and SUP. No gas motors or swimming. No pool and dump station only. Playground and clean…

Peaceful & friendly

Compared to some other state parks in SC, this one was less crowded and more peaceful. It had rained right before we arrived, and we got stuck in the mud trying to back-in our pop-up on a hill (lake campground #29). The campers all pitched in to pull us out. It was silent at night. Nice hiking…

Lots of Shade

Very nice host. Clean bathrooms. Our space was small but some are a good size. Dirt/leaf covered site. Many permanent residents so not the community of campers feel.
