Flying J Travel Center — Summerville

Flying J Travel Center north of Summerville operates as an overnight parking facility for RVers along Interstate 26, with direct highway access that accommodates larger rigs on level, well-lit pavement. The expansive lot allows travelers to park away from fuel pumps and truck traffic, though the commercial truck stop environment caters primarily to big-rig layovers rather than family camping. Clean restrooms and a well-stocked convenience store provide road trip essentials on-site.

The facility functions as a utilitarian stopover with fuel services and basic amenities, making it suitable for travelers needing a safe overnight rest rather than a recreational camping experience. For those exploring the region, campgrounds around Ridgeville offer more traditional camping environments. Consider this location for emergency stops or when other accommodations are unavailable.

Roadside Depot Off I26 for Big Rigs

Pulling into the Flying J Travel Center north of Summerville felt like finding a reliable rest stop after a long stretch of highway, with a large, level parking area that’s EZ to navigate even with a bigger rig, plenty of lighting that felt safe and welcoming as night fell and straight-forward access from I-26 that makes settling in after dark stress-free.  This place looks and smells brand new with the lot being expansive enough (at least in back) that you can find spots tucked back from the fuel pumps and truck traffic so your evening feels a bit calmer. Once parked, the amenities here are exactly what a road-weary family might be looking for like clean restrooms, a convenient store stocked with snacks and essentials, and the reassurance of fuel and service right on site. That said, this place is more commercial than family-friendly although even though it’s a travel-center environment it never felt chaotic or overwhelming. Make no mistake abourt it, uness you're in a pickle, this place is for big-rig layovers and not for the family-oriented RV crowd that we belong to. While the place is new and spacious, we would not recommend this Flying J location for families although there is EZ interstate access, plentiful level parking with good lighting, and the convenience of onsite fuel, restrooms and quick snacks, beyond this, it's a rough and tumble big rig pit stop.
