Hikers on the Appalachian Trail use this free, hike-in primitive site as the closest established camp to the Lehigh Gap trailhead. The site sits directly off the trail, is fairly level, and has a large stone campfire ring with enough room for a couple of tents plus hammock spots. No water is available on-site; small creeks along the uphill trail and the nature center near the trailhead are the nearest sources. The ground can get boggy after rain, so a ground tarp is worth packing. Campers exploring places to camp around Palmerton will also find several nearby AT primitive sites, including Lehigh Gap AT primitive campsite (group) just 0.1 miles northwest.
