Managed by the Bureau of Land Management within the Medford Grants Pass Field Office, Skull Creek Campground gives campers access to free, off-grid camping in the hills outside Glendale. The site has roughly four spots, each with a picnic table and fire pit, plus a pit toilet and bear-proof trash can on site. No water is available, and shade is limited, so arriving with a full supply and sun protection makes a real difference. A standard 2WD SUV can handle the access road, though a few potholes require attention. Pack in everything you need, and plan for full sun exposure during warmer months.
