Operated by the Alvord Ranch, the same private landowner behind Alvord Hot Springs, Pike Creek Primitive Camp sits on undeveloped land in the Alvord Desert region of southeastern Oregon. The road in poses challenges for 2WD and low-clearance vehicles. Campsites lack markers, picnic tables, and level tent pads, and cattle roam the area freely. The nightly fee, which ranges from $5 to $30, covers access to the hot springs and the Pike Creek Canyon trail, though the pools can be crowded during busy periods. Vault toilets are on-site; bring your own toilet paper. This camp makes sense for self-sufficient campers willing to trade infrastructure for access to the creek and canyon trail.
