Sand Springs Campground sits in open terrain within Deschutes National Forest, roughly 14 miles southwest of Brothers in central Oregon. Access is rough, so high-clearance vehicles are worth considering before the drive out. The site is free, allows pets and campfires, and gets cell service. OHV trails run nearby, though at least one recent visitor found the campground empty despite that proximity. Campers looking for a no-cost, drive-in base in remote high desert will find it fits that purpose well.
Description
Open April through November. Site is mostly used by people with OHV vehicles.
