Maxwell Sno-Park

Hikers seeking trail access will find Maxwell Sno-Park operates as a large paved parking area within Willamette National Forest, managed by the US Forest Service. The facility functions primarily as overnight parking with no developed infrastructure beyond restroom facilities. Forest Road 080 provides direct access to dispersed camping spots and hiking trails leading to alpine lakes.

Reviews note significant mosquito activity during June visits, along with some hornets and ants around the parking area's edges. Road noise reaches the site but remains at manageable levels for sleeping. Cell service is available, and the location accommodates big rigs on the paved surface. Campers seeking more developed amenities might consider Big Springs Sno-Park, located nearby with similar forest access.

Visitors repeatedly highlighted the beautiful location with trail access and free overnight parking. Multiple campers commented on mosquito and bug issues. Basic facilities with bathroom access available.

Nice snow park.

Big parking lot. No infrastructure. Free! Signs say overnight parking only. I'm okay with that. Buggy. Skeeters and some hornets but not bad. Some ants on the edge of the parking area. Moved further in on the pavement. No ants. Some noise from the road. Not.bad though. Still sleepable.

Great dispersed spot with access to a bathroom at the sno-park. Some bugs.

We stayed at the first dispersed spot up NF-080, about a quarter mile past the Maxwell Sno-Park, in June 2020. The spot was beautiful, with access to awesome trails right off of the forest road. We hiked up to some lakes. Having access to the bathroom at the sno-park was really great.

The downside was that in mid-June there were a lot of mosquitoes about.
