Good Camp

Tent camped on a non-electric site in early May.  Great campground.  Clean, relatively quiet, and great bathrooms.  The camp sites are right off one of the main trails in the park, so very easy to get out for a hike.

Love this place!

This campground offers awesome views for the sunsets/sunrises, trails on the property that leads to beautiful scenery in the heart of hocking hills. A pool to swim in if you want. They offer primitive camping as well for the more secluded camper. The staff are friendly and helpful. Mark, who lives…

Hocking Hills, OH, winter camping

Stayed there 2 nights the last week of February. A beautiful area, and suggest camping there any season. Winter camping had the only water source in the men's bathroom. Dump station open for dumping but needed to use the fresh water tank  to rinse using the outside shower hose.

There is so much to…

Quiet Winter Camping

We stayed on the campsites next to the shower house by the pool. We were actually on one of the sites that used to be the old camper cabin. They have cleared away the old cabins including the concrete pad they sat on. We noticed that those old camper cabin sites only had 30 amp, no 50 amp. There is…

Fall Fun and Trick-or-Treats

We came to this campground because it was close to the Kenova Pumpkin House. We rented a cabin on a cute little pond. It was a nice setting and it was a little out of the way from the main part of the campground which was nice. It had a deck that overlooked the pond and the campground. The only…

Unique "Dispersed" Camping

Stayed: 9/6/2020 - FREE

Site: Left fire pit facing toilet

This campground is the equestrian Kinderhook Trailhead within Wayne National Forest.

I didn't know what to expect for a dispersed campground at a trailhead. We pulled in and there was one couple setup at a designated site (picnic…

  • Look for this sign along Dana Road
  • An "overview". Toilet on far left, horses and trailers behind our tent near the trailhead, second "site" across the way on the right.
  • Awesome fire pits and picnic tables. (We had 2)

Is a cheap place, the shower house is very old, $40 per night The sewer was flooded because of the rain, don’t park in the middle line Is bad.

Pictures are deceiving

Stayed in July 2020 and it sure wasn’t like pictured! The mini golf is not even in use it is so bad. The pool was not open and looked like it hadn’t been in some time (even though when we called they said they were opening it right then) haha. Didn’t use the bathrooms or shower so unsure of them.…

2019 Thanksgiving Visit

A review I forgot to post! We usually camp at Hocking Hills State Park each Thanksgiving and 2019 was no exception. We had site #80 which is the electric site on the end of the old camper cabins. It has more green space (when it's not muddy) and is close to the bathrooms. It is also across from the…

  • You can see the old camper cabin to the left of our truck. We set up camp to the right of our camper.

Family Retreat at its Best!

Hocking Hills State Park and campground are the perfect spot for families looking for a quick getaway! The campground is clean and well laid out, with sites that feel pretty comfortable.

Hiking through Hocking Hills (a 5 min walk from most camping sites) is also the perfect mix of challenge /…

  • Slo-mo of the waterfall just 15 mins into the hike! Bring your flip flops for wading a bit.
  • Busy day, but the trails are so spread out and wide enough, thing never really feel congested.

A clean but opening campground

Campsites where big and level, but didn't have much privacy. The bathrooms were clean and well kept.  The trails where well-marked, they had maps at every junction so you didn't need a paper copy. However, what I didn't like about the trails was that you never felt like you were away from…

Nelsonville Music Fest Campgrounds

The Nelsonville Music and Arts Festival is one of my favorite summer festivals of all time. It is usually the first week of June. NMF is big enough to have some great artists play (Ween, the Avett Brothers, Mac Demarco, the Flaming Lips, Twin Peaks, and many more!) but small enough that it isn’t…

Hocking Hills State Park, Oh-Site 89. https://thehockinghills.org/
