Teeter's Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Reaching Teeter's Campground means crossing the Pamlico Sound by ferry first, since Ocracoke is only accessible by water. That built-in journey sets the tone for a stay that revolves around the village itself. Full hookups with water, electric, and sewer are available, along with WiFi, a dump station, and hot showers, making it one of the more utility-complete options among places to camp near Ocracoke. Reservations are accepted and pets are welcome.

Sites are compact and close together, with RVs clustered toward the center and tent sites with some shade along the edges. Each site has a picnic table and a charcoal grill, though open campfires are not permitted. Reviewers consistently note that some sites collect standing water after heavy rain, so site selection matters. Privacy is limited. What the layout trades in spacing, it makes up for in walkability: restaurants, the marina, and bike rentals are all within easy reach on foot. Blackbeard's Lodge and Silver Lake Motel and Inn are other nearby lodging options in the village for those traveling in a group with mixed preferences.

The bathrooms are small, with just two stalls serving the entire campground, but multiple reviewers flag them as consistently clean. "Bathrooms were clean and there were even two open roof showers," notes The School for Youth. AT&T users can expect two to three bars of cell service. Peak season rates run around $60 per night for full hookups. Pack bug spray regardless of season, as mosquitoes are a recurring issue across the island.

Visitors often highlighted the helpful owner and convenient walking distance to Ocracoke's attractions. Several reviews noted issues with cramped sites and drainage problems, though clean facilities partially offset these concerns.

Nice proximity to Ocracoke

Teeters in Ocracoke: Folks look to have permanent spots. There are fishing boats and golf carts for access to the nearby ‘city center’ of the cute town of Ocracoke. (71 yr olds in 17’ trailer with a desire for at least moderately secluded campsites and a picnic area that is a bit tucked away. )

Overall R: Looks to be mostly Permanent Units Here for seasonal visitation. Usage during visit: 90% Site Privacy: None Site Spacing: Close Campground Noise: Quiet Road Noise: Very miniskirt if site is near the road . Through Traffic in campground: No Full Hookup: Yes Cell Service (AT&T): 2 to 3 bars Setting: Crowded sites. Very Clean Weather: 68 degree fall day. Bugs: No

Not worth the money

Serious water and drainage issues, sewer dump station was a joke. Do yourself a favor and stay at nps campground up the road if u don’t need full hook ups.

Great Basecamp, close to town

No frill amenities. Great location close to town. Some site will hold water in lots of rain so be on the lookout. Nice bathhouse and outdoor shower. Great owners, very helpful!

Close to town moi

We picked this campground over the state park because we wanted to be able to walk into town, rent bikes, and generally explore by foot. It was supposed to be a gray cloudy day and hanging out on the beach seemed less appealing.

The other campground reviews are spot on. We paid $60 for w/e/s and two kids. A bit spendy for sure, but nice to have water and dump at the site so we could all take showers to get the sand off. And a premium for being close to town. Bathrooms were clean and there were even two open roof showers. Also includes WiFi.

Smacnally’s is down the road and they have a big outdoor deck where they are serving food. Not sure the tables were six feet apart but the lunch crowd was relatively thin and the wind was blowing so we felt safe enough dining there (the happy hour crowd was packed in). You can rent bikes next door at the Dockmaster. $10/bike for 2 hours. Total deal. Also close to the ferry.

Best Campground on Ocracoke

I absolutely love Ocracoke and Teeter’s is the only campground with power and hot showers. The owner is super nice and prices are reasonable. You can walk everywhere you need to go. Take bug spray! Ocracoke mosquitoes are on steroids. My pup loved golf cart rides around the village

Great spot to enjoy the island

I camped here for almost a week with a friend and our dogs. The location is fantastic. Everything is walking distance... restaurants, shops and the marina. The owner was very nice and helpful. Be aware the campsites are very close together. The only negative point is that there are just 2 bathroom stalls for the entire campground but they were very clean and the shower has hot water. The campsites on the edges have shade for tents. Each site has a picnic table and a charcoal grill but campfires are prohibited. The RV's are parked mainly in the middle.

Spectacular time, great island! 🌴

I loved every bit of camping here, truly! Even the man who runs the camp ground was so kind. It’s a true adventure coming into this island on a ferry and then camping in sand, very nice time!!
