About Hatteras Sands Campground

Hatteras Island’s only campground located in the heart of Hatteras Village, in the scenic Outer Banks area of North Carolina.

Set among beautiful canals and grassy fields, our resort has over 60 paved RV sites. Hatteras Sands Campground welcomes “big rigs” with many sites featuring water, sewer and electric hookups, cable and WiFi.

On Hatteras Island, you can fish right from the beach or take a charter boat out to the deep blue water of the Gulf Stream. Take in the soulful coastal restaurants and interesting mom-and-pop shops. While your setting will be a bit more on the untamed side of nature, it will be a simpler and quieter part of the barrier islands.

Hatteras Sands Cottages offer comforts while providing a camping experience. For a truly unique accommodation, stay in one of our newly renovated cottages.

Nice camping spot

Nice spit but needed more attention to restrooms , more often and a little difficult getting into the sound from their dock. Good pool and nice people in office. This is a nice spot for a shorter stay.

Great campsite

Awesome amenities, clean bathhouse and very accomplish staff

Great campground, super close to the Ocracoke ferry.

Nice cabins!

Cabin Camping

We stayed for four nights and rented two of the cabins with our family of six with two dogs and a lizard. When we travel, we travel. Cabins were comfortable but they are camping cabins so read the description of what’s included and what you need to pack with you. Located right off NC HWY 12 you are closest to OSV Ramp 55 by the ferry and Pole Road. Camp hosts and staff were friendly and it was a very family oriented atmosphere. Campground was secluded from thru traffic so our son could ride his bike throughout with no concerns. A cool canal runs around the cabins and sites allowing the kids to fish. We’ll be back.

Hatteras Sands is amazing!!!

We stayed at Hatteras Sands Campground for Memorial Day weekend and had an amazing time. They had nice sites with 50 amp and 30 amp hook ups and WiFi throughout the camp ground. Each site also has free cable with a long list of channels and they are actually good channels so don’t forget to bring the coax cable. The WiFi wasn’t blazing fast but it’s free WiFi. Each site has a concrete pad for the trailer. They are pet friendly. There bath house is clean and well kept. They have a pool and games in the office for everyone as well as a laundry center. And all of the staff in the office was amazing and so friendly. Definitely a little more of a drive to get to than other sites but it’s definitely worth it. It’s about an hour and a half from the heart of nags head and kitty hawk. Amazing campground and can’t wait to go back and will drive the extra hour for anytime!

Qaint, quiet, cramped

This resort is situated off some canals in Hatteras. the view of the water is ok. the campsites are so close together it seems like a large parking lot for RVs and your vehicle is a second thought. The ground is terribly muddy (suck your shoes off muddy). The closeness of the main other lots is really bothersome, the water lots (which look like 30 amp) have much more room. the staff has been very friendly and helpdul. The park is clean, the rules are reasonable, the people staying are friendly, the pool is clean and I’m good condition. There are a few small markets/grocery stores near by (within 10-15mins drive).
