Deep River Campground And RV Park

Stopped here after our fiasco with holly bluff. Beautiful campground with trees. Very quiet during the day and peaceful. The only thing we found curious was the vehicle in and right back out activity between 10:30-pm and 1am back and forth to campers that were long term stays. Made nighttime hard to sleep in site 3 with vehicles back and forth for hours .

Deep River Campground And RV Park

New Owners, making lots of noticeable changes for your enjoyable stay

Looking for a nice place for a camping getaway? We highly recommend checking out the Deep River Campground in Asheboro, NC. The location itself is beautiful. It is literally on the Deep River and features a hiking trail that runs along the river past the remnants of a historical damn, where a small area of rapids gently swirls around the big rocks spanning the river. There’s also a large lake with a nice grassy expanse for picnics, playing games or just lazing around lakeside. This campground has been around for a while, but it has new owners now and they are breathing some for real new life into the place. They have already made lots of repairs and improvements, and you can see more in progress. There are sites for RVs with all the hook-ups, and great primitive sites for tent camping, several located right on the river. If you don’t have an RV and sleeping on the ground doesn’t spark joy, they have a few small rustic but nicely-appointed cabins. You’ll find two pools, several covered picnic shelters, a playground for the small ones, and several options for older kids and adults to play, like a horseshoe pit and a nice game room. They also have planned activities like movie nights and weiner roasts most evenings to entertain and create community among campers. They are pet friendly and have their own pet mascots on site— a flock of ducks including beautifully colored teals and mallards. We were just there for 2 nights, but I have a good feeling we’ll be visiting there again soon. Definitely worth a visi

High Rock Lake Marina and Campground

      Like watching water boil

Was a monthly Camper when I came in to the campground. Nobody was cleaning the men’s room. No one was trying to collect the fall leaves. This is an old run down campground. I cleaned the men’s room for free because there was no staff to clean. I regret helping the owner for free on multiple occasions.

Crosswinds Campground — Jordan Lake State Recreation Area

      Quiet, clean, spacious

The sites are very large, long and wider at the back, plenty of room for a big group or family. The bathrooms look new and they are clean. Here during the week so it's very empty and quiet.

Crosswinds Campground — Jordan Lake State Recreation Area

      Great Camp

We visited Crosswinds campground at Jordan Lake State Park on the worst heatwave of the year. The great thing about this area is that the sites a well shaded. We were about 50 yards from the lake, with the wind blowing we still were comfortable all day. We stayed on Loop A, which is my favorite loop at the park. There’s no electricity or water at the sites. There are water spickets throughout the loop with potable water. The site is awesome! There’s a small pond beside it. The neighboring sites are close, but regular conversations can not be heard.this loop is always quiet even when there are a lot of people, but it’s never been full when I’m there. I didn’t do good with photos except for the food.

Crosswinds Campground — Jordan Lake State Recreation Area

      Crosswinds Campground July 2026

Decent campground in a beautiful location along Lake Jordan. Crosswinds Campground is one of several sites on the lake. We chose this location since the gates stay open all the time, while other sites have a curfew that can lock you out for the night.

The staff are super friendly and helpful. There’s apparently a camp host whom we never met and they’re on the site next to ours (not sure if they’re supposed to greet us or help us get acquainted with the site, but the staff member at check in was great and did all that when we arrived).

Loop C is quiet, very few children, and less road noise compared to the other loops, but doesn’t have the same access to the lake.

Site C50 is conveniently located close to the bath house, has a large fire pit with adjustable grill, picnic table, and hookups for water and electricity. We’re in a tent, so really just use the electricity. The picnic table here should be replaced, as the wood seems to be rotting, but still does the job. There are a few sites in loop C that do have direct access to the lake, but those tend to be booked all of the time. We explored one last night and couldn’t believe it was vacant and how much nicer it seemed.

Bathrooms are not as clean as I would like, but I bring disinfectant wipes to wipe the toilet before use. Showers are fine, but use an annoying motion sensor to turn the water on/off. Showering at night is annoying with the bugs because the bathhouse is lit like a beacon (probably for safety). Waiting for the daytime is a better experience. Also, there isn’t a washing station for dishes, and we do that at our site.

Firewood can be purchased by the staff at the campground entrance; however, the exact same firewood is almost $4 fewer at a Refuel station down the street. Definitely stop into that gas station store for things you might need.

Overall, really good experience staying here, some annoying things, but won’t ruin your stay.

Rolling View — Falls Lake State Recreation Area

      Great tent camping sites

First time to Loop C and we loved it. There are some great sites here, they are big and most are decently spaced. It rained heavily while there, some sites will hold water, but I didn’t see any fully submerged. There’s no electrical hook ups, there are a few potable water spickets throughout the loop. The bathroom was very clean.

      Great in the woods camping

Easy back in camp sites some have a bit of steep up hill to the flat space the area is hilly I was only her 2 nights so I didn’t really have much time to explore I came here to visit my Uncle and I needed a place to park his home area is to small.

    Guide to Whitsett

Most campgrounds near Whitsett, North Carolina sit at elevations between 500-700 feet, offering moderate temperatures that range from 30°F in winter to mid-90s in summer. The region experiences approximately 45 inches of rainfall annually, creating lush forest conditions throughout the camping season. Campgrounds in the area typically remain open year-round, with peak visitation occurring between April and October.

    What to do

Water activities on Hyco Lake: Access multiple piers for fishing and boating at Hyco Lake State Park Campground. The lake provides calm waters suitable for beginner kayakers and paddleboarders, with rental equipment available at the main office. "The park is nice and clean. Great for families and retirees," notes one visitor.

Disc golf courses: Oak Hollow features an 18-hole course with concrete tee pads and baskets positioned through wooded terrain. The course accommodates both beginners and experienced players, with the front nine holes offering more open fairways. "The campground is right by a highway so traffic noise is high but the views are nice," reports one camper.

Creek wading opportunities: Explore shallow creek beds at Moonshine Creek Campground where specially constructed seating areas allow visitors to sit directly in the flowing water. "Benches throughout even in the creek to put your feet in," mentions a camper who appreciated these unique features.

    What campers like

Lake visibility: Lake Reidsville Recreation Park offers direct water views from nearly all camping areas. Sites include fire rings, picnic tables and level parking pads. According to a reviewer, "The park is nice and clean. The bathhouse was well kept. The staff had decorations throughout the park for Halloween which is something I don't remember them doing in the past."

Privacy options: Several campgrounds offer designated quiet zones for adults seeking separation from family areas. Moonshine Creek Campground provides a "Sanctuary area" with specific rules. As one camper described, "It's a quiet zone. There is one tent cabin and 4 tent sites with water and electric. You CAN park at your sites."

Platform camping: Oak Hollow City Campground features elevated wooden platforms that keep tents dry during rain events. These structures measure approximately 12 feet by 12 feet and can accommodate standard family tents. "We tent camped on Aug 28. This was our first time setting up on a platform and it was very easy. Our site had a great view of the beautiful lake," shares a satisfied visitor.

    What you should know

Highway proximity: Several campgrounds are positioned near major roadways, creating constant background noise at certain sites. Greensboro KOA provides earplugs at check-in for noise-sensitive campers. "This campground is only 100 yards from the Interstate! Lots of road noise all night. Very noisy especially in a tent," warns one visitor.

Bath facilities vary significantly: Bathhouse maintenance and design differs between locations, with older facilities requiring renovation. At Lake Reidsville, motion-sensor lighting systems in shower areas sometimes deactivate during use, requiring campers to exit showers to reactivate. One camper noted, "In shower house the lights are motioned sensored which are super inconvenient when you're the only one in there and it cuts off 2 or 3 times while your showering."

Water hookup limitations: At several campgrounds, water connections are positioned farther from RV pads than standard, requiring additional hose length. Moonshine Creek sites often need 50+ feet of hose to reach connections. "I was excited to have a lake view spot with electric but my 25 foot cord was not long enough so make sure you have atleast 50 feet," advises a camper.

    Tips for camping with families

Youth-focused programming: Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Asheboro offers structured daily activities supervised by staff members. Programs run from morning until evening, including crafts, games, and character interactions. "This is a great family campground. They have activities all day for the kids and family," confirms one visitor.

Playground accessibility: Several campgrounds position play equipment within direct sight of camping areas, allowing parents to monitor children from their sites. However, proximity to internal roads can create safety concerns. One camper observed, "Playground could use updating and maybe a fence around since it's so close to the road."

Swimming restrictions: Not all lake properties permit swimming due to water quality or safety concerns. Lake Reidsville specifically prohibits water entry despite its beachfront appearance. "You can rent paddle boats or kayak's or paddle boards. You may fish or ride boats. The only down fall is the bath house needs updating and you can't swim," explains a regular visitor.

    Tips from RVers

Site leveling challenges: Many campgrounds in the region feature sloped terrain requiring extensive leveling equipment. Rolling View — Falls Lake State Recreation Area provides more level sites than most area campgrounds. "Nice, big sites and plenty of good areas for swimming, hiking, and fishing. We always catch a ton of fish!! Bath houses are always clean and the park is in a convenient location," shares a repeat visitor.

Gate access restrictions: Several campgrounds implement nighttime security gates that lock at specific hours, preventing late arrivals or departures. "This campground is pretty great except for two things. There is no septic on your site, and they lock the gate after a certain hour. If you need something or arrive after hours you are out of luck," warns one RVer.

Full hookup availability: Most glamping in Whitsett, North Carolina and surrounding areas offers water and electric connections, but sewer hookups remain limited. Crosswinds Campground provides dump stations rather than site-specific sewer connections. "Great Campsites, nice wooded sites and close to lake access. Great hiking trails and very family friendly. Deer walked right behind our site. Boat ramp in campground," notes a satisfied camper.
