Incredible hiking but not so great camping...

Perfectly located to bag 5000 footers (including Mt. Rogers) and for hiking in the high country!  The campground hosts were awesome and the services were great.

We had two issues you should be aware of...

Issue 1: the wells were pretty dry so we had no water hook up, no hot showers, and…

  • Easy hike to an outstanding sunrise!
  • Awesome examples of nature at work
  • Not a wild pony...

Classic NC State park

We visited in April. Beautiful days hiking nearby, cold nights. Pet friendly. Pretty clean bath house. Visitors center nearby. Sites were mostly level, with gravel, fire pit, picnic table. Some were classically wooded, shady and some in the bright sun. Cute small town nearby.

Out way home

Didn't know what to expect. Very quiet area. Some spots are near I74 but most are not. Large lake and history here. Close to town to see the local legends hometown.

Perfect for Families

Family-friendly campground with plenty of fun activities for kids. Playground, fishing pond, disc golf, recreation and game area, and ice cream trailer. Our site was nicely shaded and fairly level. Fire pit and picnic table at each site. There appears to be a lot of long-term residents but all…

Disappointing

According by the rates I was expecting an actual resort. But not even close. 90% of the sites are occupied by permanent campers. The staff don’t take care of the other sites at all. Ours was small and dirty. We’ve been for 2 nights in a row (so far) and both nights were very noisy because of two…

Awesome Stay!!!

Very friendly and welcoming! We were arriving after hours, so they left our site packet outside the office door with all of the info we needed! Had great wifi! Full hookup sites! Level spots. Had nice playgrounds!

Neat spot!

This is a really chill spot near Boone. We stayed in one of the tipis, and it was an awesome glamping experience

The bathrooms were clean.

Everyone staying here was really nice and chill. It feels a little hippie which is neat.

If you’re pulling a camper, the road would be a little rough, but…

Favorite Spot

We truly love this campground- it’s our favorite spot!

There are amazing trails in this state park, if that’s your thing.

The bath house on the rv loop is nice and big. They keep it pretty clean. It’s definitely nicer than the bathhouses at many other state parks.

The sites are pretty spread…

Quiet and beautiful stop in the NC mountains

This was a really nice stay, but it was just overnight for us. Took about 20-30 mins off of 77. Site 55 is the best site, but the hardest to get into with an RV. Beautiful views and area. Camp hosts really friendly and helpful. Explored the park in the morning before we left and I know we will be…

Large Wooded Campsites + Tons of Trails & Beautiful Lake!

Had a great time at Julian Price Campground! ⛺️ 🌲

We had 2 groups and reserved sites B29 & B30 because they seemed more remote with water, restrooms, and trail access nearby. I could not have been happier about our sites!

LOVELY trees, shade, and close to everything we needed. This is a BIG…

  • B30 campsite – big site, spaced far away from others with plenty of trees & shade! Backs up to the woods. The Boone Fork trail entrance is between B29 & B30.

Tons of trees & places to hang hammocks or rain covers!

Across the road is a water spigot & public bathroom (men's and women's with 3 stalls + 2 sinks each).
  • B29 campsite – good distance away from other sites! Nicely wooded and very shady
  • Nice spots to hang a hammock!
