Holly Flats Campground — Cherokee National Forest

Within Cherokee National Forest, Holly Flats Campground provides drive-in access for campers exploring the forested terrain near the Tennessee-North Carolina border. The USDA Forest Service manages this established campground, which includes toilet facilities but prohibits pets.

Campers can access Birch Branch Campground for a pet-friendly alternative, or explore campsites near Coker Creek for additional options in the area.

Overview

This location is available on a first-come, first-served basis only. Visitors are required to physically arrive at the campground to purchase and claim a site. Once on-site, you may be able to pay for your campsite(s) by scanning a QR code using the Recreation.gov mobile app, and the Scan and Pay feature. If this option is available, you will need to first download the free Recreation.gov mobile app https://www.recreation.gov/mobile-app prior to your arrival as some remote areas have limited or no cellular service.

Food storage restrictions apply at all areas on the Cherokee National Forest. All food and beverages must be stored in an approved bear-proof container, your locked vehicle or hard-sided camper at all times unless being eaten, prepared, or transported.

Directions: From Tellico Plains - turn onto TN 165 for approximately 5 miles, turn right onto FR 210 going past Ranger Station. Drive about 14 miles upstream, turn onto FR 126. Campground will be approximately 6 miles on left.
