Golden Beach Campground

My friend is a local and recommended this campground for the sunsets. The rain made that difficult to confirm, but we loved the place. It’s the standard weird-ass New York thing where you have a site and you can park wherever the hell you want within it (so foreign to me), but you should spend some time with the map. Site 158 is probably the dopest (we were next door in 159), but there are some others near the lake that would be sweet. The further back from the lake, the more of a camping-in-the-deep-woods vibe. Looks like some folks leave a camper here all summer (can’t imagine spending that much, but it’s probably cheaper than a lake house) and many bring boats. I think if you’ve got a SUP, canoe or kayak, you’re gonna dig this campground in specific and the area in general.

Have camped at this location the past two trips. Sites along the lower end of the grounds are the ideal place to be as they are better spaced out and more private. All sites are decent size and bathroom facilities are typical camp bathrooms.

It was a great time at this campground. The lake at the campground was fantastic and gave our pups a chance to swim. the facilities were clean and the campground was quiet at night. Overall a great time. We used it as our base camp to complete the Tupper Lake Triad.

Have stayed here a handful of times. This is a great stop when rolling into the Adirondacks. Tons of cute towns nearby and have always used this as a quick stop before heading further into the mountains. There are outhouses at the sites and one in particular has a great view up on a ledge. Pretty secluded. Also very windy so be prepared. Will be back.

This is our favorite place to camp by far. We’ve been here 2 times this summer. The first time we were on a site in the 50s and not on the water. There were more kids around that area. The second time we were on site 86, on the water. It was amazing. We rented a canoe from Adirondack river rentals and could launch directly from our site. Everything is clean here and it’s a convenient drive to the nearest store.

a wonderful, clean beach on a large, crystal-clear lake (Raquette Lake), in the heart of the Adirondacks. They have some very nice campsites; unfortunately, they have some sites that have no level area (as in, not even close - it's all slope) or shade, so choose wisely (why they only get 4 stars). Bathrooms & showers are about what you expect at a state park.

Very nice place on the lake with a beautiful black sand beach. Some site are more private then others....but either way truly a nice campground.

The campsites inside the park are very crowded so make sure you get one on the road. They are roomier and spaced apart. Each campsite has it's own outhouse and you are close to the water so you can fish or park your boat by your campsite. Book early cause they fill up fast. You still have access to the main park and showers

this was a beautiful place to camp. The water is an amber/gold color and the beaches are sand. They have a boat launch for kayaks which came in handy during my stay. No cell service. This has great secluded campsites off of the main road that are by the water in the woods. Def reserve early if you want a spot

Beautiful beach front camping. Kite surfing, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, bird watching and that's just the tip of the ice berg.

For many years Golden Beach held the record for the NYS DEC campground with the most 14 days reservations in the network (14 days is a NYS max). There are many reasons but it's primarily because the park is far enough into the Adirondacks that campers can enjoy peace and tranquility with very little effect of the bustling amusement park chasers. It's about 80 miles to the closest city too so people don't end up at Golden Beach by accident. My wife and I have been camping there 27 years and can attest to the park's beauty. The upkeep and management varies as caretakers change and as budgets allow but the park is always beautiful. The same core group of families seem to be back year after year in the same weeks. For instance, our kids grew up with the same dozen other kids that have been there the third week of July for eons... The lake is peaceful, the beach is amazing and the local community is generally welcoming to respectable campers. Highly recommend!!!
