Gravel roads lead five miles from pavement to reach Brown Tract Pond Campground, where motorboats stay off the water and loons call across the surface. This state forest campground sits within the Moose River Plains Wild Forest, offering 30 sites scattered through mixed forest terrain near the pond's edge.
Sites spread out with good spacing between neighbors, many featuring direct water access for launching canoes and kayaks. The campground rents watercraft for $20 per day, and a sandy beach area serves day users and campers without waterfront sites. Flush toilets and a dump station handle basic needs, though no shower facilities exist on-site. Campers can access showers at nearby facilities a few miles away.
Monica F. notes the campground has "clean, stocked bathrooms/toilet with sink and soap" along with well-placed water spigots throughout the grounds. Cell service remains spotty to nonexistent, with possible WiFi near the entrance area. The rough access road requires slower travel, especially when towing, but reviewers consistently mention the quiet atmosphere once settled.
Electric, water, and sewer hookups accommodate RVs up to 30 feet, while tent campers can gather downed wood for fires. For additional camping options in the region, explore campgrounds near Raquette Lake or check out Eighth Lake Campground three miles south.
