Ravens' Rest sits on forested terrain in Arenas Valley, with a creek running nearby that adds natural sound to the setting. This established campground provides full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections, making it suitable for RVs seeking complete utility access. Drive-in access allows easy arrival, while amenities include drinking water, WiFi, and cell service for campers who need connectivity.
The campground welcomes pets and provides picnic tables at sites. Reservations are available for advance planning. For additional camping options in the region, visitors can explore camping near Arenas Valley. The combination of creek proximity and forest setting creates a different atmosphere than open desert camping common elsewhere in New Mexico.
Description
The Ravens’ Rest site is on a five acre property in the foothills between the Gila National Forest and the high desert spreading out to the south. At an elevation of 6200 ft, the vegetation is piñon, juniper, mountain mahogany and scrub oak. Along with the owner’s residence there are two other rentals on the grounds, an airstream trailer and a tiny house. The property borders a Forest Service Recreation Trail System, available year round for hiking, bicycling and horseback riding.
The campsite itself is suitable for self-contained camper vans, small RV’s, or small camp trailers pulled by adept drivers in nimble, smallish vehicles. (The site measures 24’ x 17’ with a little bump out for additional space.) It is not suitable for big pick-ups pulling big trailers, or large RV’s.
There is 50amp electrical service as well as standard 115v, potable water, and sewer hook-up. Unfortunately, for now, there are no toilet or shower facilities. Because we’re in a high fire-risk zone, campfires are currently not allowed, but once the danger lifts, there is a fire pit that can be used with wood, charcoal or propane.
Due to other guests, my own pets, neighboring horses and wildlife, pets must be securely contained within the campsite or controlled on a lead at all times. Aggressive or barking dogs will not be allowed. Pet waste is your responsibility and must be securely tied in a waste bag, then double-bagged into another trash bag before disposing of it.
Smoking is not allowed except in your own vehicle or camper, using an inside ashtray and making sure all butts are disposed of properly.
