Clean and Easily Accessible

Pleasantly surprised by this place. We pulled our van in at 9 pm and paid $10 at pay station. We had a great 3 mile morning walk. The entire site is litter-free. Bathrooms are incredibly clean

Only one campground open this time of year

And the bathroom was locked because of freezing. No water anywhere. Lake is pretty and we used our bike to check out all the different walks and stuff which was nice but disappointed it was all locked up. Water is very low.

Beautiful location

Unable to reserve and pay for a spot online but decided to go anyway and check for availability at the office. Office closed when we got there, but a camper told us to pick a spot without a reserve ticket on it and use the honor system dropbox. Only the Juniper campground was open, but lots of open spots. We lucked out with one, though not very level, it gave us a beautiful view of the lake. Restrooms located by camp host. We had a dry camping spot, but there is a dump station and non-potable water in campground. I was told a few spots have electricity but ours didn't. Each spot has a covered picnic table and bbq grill, where you would have to have your fire if you brought wood. A bit of a stretch from the highway, but easy to find following the directions off the Maps app, and so worth the drive. We'll definitely be back!

A perfect stop

This was a perfect stop while traveling cross country.  All the sites that I saw had their own shelter/pavilion over the picnic table.

There's very little to no shade in most of the sites.

Facilities were very clean and the host, Frank, was exceptionally helpful.

Great spot to stop for a night!

Stayed here for a night on our way back to the East Coast. Very conveniently located off I-40. For $10, it’s definitely worth it! Sites are clean as well as the bathrooms. Water is available, but not at every site. Cold showers are available for free at the State Park (electric sites reservations only) just a 5 minute drive away. The camp host was very friendly and helpful with information about the area. Bring your industrial strength bug-spray though, as the the mosquitoes are thirsty little buggers!!!

State park goegeous and clean!

Great find driving through NM. $10 self pay state park and plenty of spots for drive up on a Friday. Beautiful views from nearly every campsite, sites spread apart with tables and awnings over each table. A clean lake, clean pristine bathrooms and millions of stars that will take your breath away. Went in June watched a storm roll by in the distance which added to the gorgeous sunset and cactus landscape. Truly worth the stay if you’re needing to pull off the i40 for a night.

Nice campground

Still early season so pretty quiet. Two loops were open but plenty of spaces open. Easy reservation kiosk for CC only.

Beautiful sites. The campground is up on the high part of Bandelier. Nice hike from up at the campground out to view down into the valley plus lots of other hiking from up there.
