    Great Stop When Passing Through

We stopped at this KOA for one night while passing through New Mexico.   We had a great view of the valley below and our site had everything we needed--full hookups. We were pretty close to others but that's not unusual for a KOA. Nothing wrong with this place but not a luxurious campground.

    Las Cruces KOA

    Great New Mexico Stop

We stopped on either end of our trip to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. It was a great midway point from home. We stayed in a patio site. The site was spacious and level. A fire pit with chairs, a propane grill, and table with 4 chairs was provided. The kids enjoyed cornhole, basketball, tetherball, and the playground. The store was well stocked. I only wish more local products were sold. Many of the items that appeared to be made by Native Americans were actually imported from overseas. We also wish the community room had board games or movies to check out. The coffee and pastries was a great touch! We will definitely be back to explore the area more. Employees were friendly and kind. A great place to stay!

Friendly & Very Clean 55+ Park

Sunny Acres is a friendly and clean 55+ park in central Las Cruces, New Mexico. The sites are mostly back-in and have FHU 50amp sites. All sites are gravel with patios and picnic table. The sites are large and can easily accommodate large rigs. The amenities are pickle ball, large dog run, community room, laundry, billiards, and restrooms. We chose this park because of it’s central location to everything. 👍🏻😉

    Las Cruces KOA

Views for days and soft tent sites

After about 308 miles on the road today we were tired. The desolate stretches of highway between Tucson and Las Cruces had paid their toll and we were very happy to at last see the Las Cruces KOA Campground sign.

We had called in advance and were insured that tent camping was not yet full and we could come and make ourselves at home. Unknowing if we would make it before the office closed between 6:00 and 6:30 we were delighted to see the friendly face of Anne when we arrived.

She assisted us with not only a great campsite but also providing a map with items potentially of interest and some knowledge about our next days activity.

Our campsite was near the bathrooms and on a grassy area with plenty of shade. We were provided with a grill station and picnic table as well as water at the site and parking just in front along the slight fence line.

The campground facilities provided a half basketball court and play area as well as a gazebo for looking at the views during sunset. Those views were amazing overlooking the city and into the mountains as the night fell from the distance.

We found an outdoor grill area upon arrival which offered a little more relief from winds than our campsite itself so were able to use our camp stove there and also have a nice area to sit and eat peacefully.

There was a pool and it looked very inviting, however it was not open until mid month, a sad negative to us upon arrival.

I did take notice for those rv camping they also provided full hook ups and cable. To all campers wifi was available as well.

    🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰

Overall this campground gets 5 of 5 Bunnies. The security of code locked facilities as well as comfortable facilities made for a pleasant experience in Las Cruces as a pass through city on our venture.

    Sunny Acres RV Park

Very nice home base to explore area from.

On way from Texas to Vegas this was a nice stop along the way. We took extra day to visit white sands and experience some New Mexico Mexican food at Andele Restaurant.

    Weather was perfect in October.

    Very nice day.

    Las Cruces KOA

    Beautiful views

Easy access off the I10 and very close to town and stores and restaurants . The campground is set up on a hill providing beautiful 180 degree views. The staff person in the office was wonderful, professional and helpful. There is a nicely stocked store. The park is very clean and the utilities were in great shape and easy to connect. There is a concrete pad assuring a level site. The picnic table was the nicest that we have seen, it was very clean, in perfect condition and made from great material. It is a lovely campground and we’ll be back.

Guide to Doña Ana

Caballo Lake RV Park provides yurt accommodations approximately 40 miles north of Doña Ana, New Mexico. Located at 3,200 feet elevation, this area experiences hot summers with temperatures frequently exceeding 95°F and mild winters with occasional freezing nights. Most campgrounds near Doña Ana maintain gravel sites with limited natural shade, making morning activities preferable during summer months.

What to do

Explore White Sands dunes: Caballo Lake RV Park offers a strategic location for exploring the region's natural attractions. "Great place to kayak especially when the sun rises you will see it over the mountains. My favorite part about caballo lake is floating down from elephant butte to caballo lake in a giant floaty," notes visitor Christy L.

Visit Old Mesilla: Located just minutes from Siesta RV Park, this historic district features adobe buildings, art galleries, and authentic New Mexican restaurants. "We needed a place to stay for the night on Dec.31. We called many places but it was all booked due to 25% capacity limit from Covid. This place had 1 spot available and the staff was very friendly," reports Christie C.

Play outdoor games: Recreational facilities at various campgrounds provide structured activities. At Las Cruces KOA, one camper notes, "The kids enjoyed cornhole, basketball, tetherball, and the playground. The store was well stocked."

What campers like

Clean facilities: Bathroom and shower cleanliness ranks high in camper satisfaction. "The bathhouse is clean. Water in the showers are annoying because it auto cuts off after about 10-15 seconds and you have to keep it going for at least a minute or two to get hot water," notes Brett D. about Caballo Lake.

Winter camping comfort: Tent sites remain accessible year-round at several locations. "Tent camping was wonderful at this location. Clean and reasonably priced," reports Lei B. about Las Cruces KOA.

Pricing considerations: Costs vary significantly between parks. "A clean, well kept campground with great views. But, for the price, I would expect more," mentions Robert M. about Las Cruces KOA.

Limited Wi-Fi reliability: Internet access can be inconsistent across the region. At Siesta RV Park, a visitor noted the "Wifi was decent! Faster than average KOA. Verizon had full bars but was still a little slow for some reason."

Tips for camping with families

Book patio sites: Enhanced sites with additional amenities provide better comfort for families. A visitor at Las Cruces KOA reports, "We stayed in a patio site. The site was spacious and level. A fire pit with chairs, a propane grill, and table with 4 chairs was provided."

Bring water gear: Caballo Lake offers water recreation opportunities. "Was a big grass camping area lots of space. Close to the water from camping sites....Grills tables and shade area," notes Amber N.

Tips from RVers

Manage water pressure: Dalmont's RV Park and other locations may have inconsistent water systems. "Sites are gravel and semi level. Park manager wasn't the nicest," reports Syd P.
