Camel Head Camp

Dispersed camping along a rocky ledge, Camel Head Camp sits on Bureau of Land Management property managed by the Rio Puerco Field Office. The free campground allows campfires and alcohol but prohibits pets. Campers access the site by driving in, with one reviewer noting it works well as an overnight stop for New Mexico Backcountry Discovery Route travelers. The ledge location provides some shelter, though conditions would likely deteriorate during rainstorms. Those planning extended trips in the region can explore camping near Torreon for additional options.

Perfect Western Pull off

Great little spot for a short night stay on NMBDR. Tucked into the ledge. Probably a mess in a rain storm but a wonderful spot to disperse camp.
