Stopped here but didn’t end up staying the night

Could’ve been a really cool camping spot but after setting up camp a couple came yelling right by my van. They were part of the homeless camp and I just didn’t feel super comfortable because they were saying really aggressive things.

Dispersed Site - Lolo National Forest Recreation Area

    Easy, peaceful and beautiful

So gorgeous! Tent camped along the river! Very spaced out campsites, nice for lots of privacy and quiet! Signs to be aware of bear country but took precautions. Rock fire pits at each site. Super easy for quick stop road tripping (0.5 miles off main road)! Stayed in early September on a road trip to Glacier, was able to find our site decently well in the dark! Verizon cell service 3-4 bars! Loved it!

The west is the only safe way to enter onto the road to the campsites. On the map, it looks like you can enter/exit either way from 135… but the east side of the road to get back onto 135 is impossible… so we just had to turn around and exit the same way we came in (from the west).

Dispersed Site - Lolo National Forest Recreation Area

Quiet open site on the river

Dispersed camping at the "Peninsula" Recreation Area. 6 day stay limit according to the sign. No potable water. Stone fire rings throughout.

We stayed mid week during August. Stayed in a medium sized site on the river. Small steep slope to the water.

    Pros:
Plenty of space, both large and small sites. Room for a 30' in a couple of the sites. 3 bars Tmobile. Some sites on the water with a short steep slope down. 12 miles to gas station. Beautiful views.

Cons: No pit toilets (edit: another camper said they are at the end of the campground) No potable water. Road/train noise. POISON IVY (found it... found all of it)

Overall we loved this spot. Being ok the water in a mostly private setting with such amazing views is our goal. Little bit of road noise but hardly noticeable over the wind in the trees.

Sites were clean but well used, so thank you to all the campers that took care of this place!

    Glacier Campground

Perfect for our Glacier NP visit

This campground was very cute. The owners were so friendly and accommodating. The resident cat Poncho was a hot with our kids. The showers were small, but we're hot and free! The lawn was great with a communal fire pit and small playground. They let travelers camp there for 12 per person per night in a tent if that's what you're looking for. The cafe was cute and the drinks were delicious. We didn't eat, but it looked good! I would stay here again foe sure.

    Quiet and peaceful

I stayed at Whispering Pines for three nights in a July heatwave. It was a work trip, and I tried to book a hotel but was offended at the high prices in the Flathead, so I opted to take my teardrop and camp.

This place was great. It is a really nice place with plenty of space, a very clean porta-potty and an outdoor shower. No electric hookups, but there is great cell reception and it’s only 10 minutes from downtown Kalispell.

The price was reasonable, compared to nightly hotel room rates, but for camping, anything over $35 a night really should have power. But, all things considered, this place does what it does really well, and that’s fine. Bottom line: if you are looking for a clean, quiet place to camp in Kalispell, give this place a try. Proximity to Whitefish, Glacier NP is excellent.

    Great spot close to town

Stayed here on our way through headed back to Bozeman, Great spot with plenty of room for activities campers, tents, hammocks, and friends. Lots of room for multiple campers. Verizon and Atnt had service the whole time, close to Highway, and railroad so not super quite spot. But overall great overnight pullover spot!

The showers and bathrooms were very clean.

The campground is about 1 mile from the west entrance of glacier park!

Great campsite with deep blue water

Was a great campsite for river views and a short drive to glacier national park. River was very deep and a beautiful swim! However it’s a heavily travelled road and the boat ramp was being used quite often.

    No big rig (30’+) access!

Not super accessible to bigger rigs, small sites, the other camping off the left side of road is better for all size rigs, but also had some homeless camps within and no river access.

Peaceful, Well-tended, Best Shower in Montana

I drove into Whispering Pines weary from travel, seeking a well-earned rest and recharge. I am very pleased to say I received that and more.

Tucked away where the Kalispell Valley meets the pines, you'll find this campground. Its peaceful here, but the amenities of the city are close by. The views are great. The sunrise on my last morning lit up the entire mountain range to the East. The sun sets in a spot that allows you to see out for miles, as the sky continues to glow well after the sun has disappeared from frame. On a clear day, you can even see Heaven's Peak in Glacier National Park from your campsite.

And the night sky is marvelous. The shower was very well thought out: great water pressure, endless heat, and an open roof to stare up at the stars. I will not forget that shower experience for a long time, soaking under the Big Sky.

The last thing I'll say is that the campground host, Charles, is very welcoming and attentive to your needs. The kind of host that makes sure you have clean facilities every step of the way, but leaves your space to enjoy your time the way you want to. We kicked it off right away. It's very clear that he is a nice guy who simply enjoys sharing his love of the state with you.

TLDR; Try this place out, you'll be glad you did.

    Really nice!

I had one bar of Verizon service, so I could send and receive messages, but pics sent very slowly. I was at the first campsite on the right, less than a quarter mile walk down to the pit toilets and river. Lots of trucks with trailers coming and going, plus the sound of traffic from the road, but it wasn’t too bad. The river is beautiful and has a little beach for swimming. My campsite had a good amount of shade and could fit a big rig easily. It was nice and flat, surrounded by pine trees. Lovely! Bugs were not bad at all.

Nice vibe, close to Glacier NP

We really liked this campground. Sites are shady. The cafe serves a good quality and imaginative menu. Hang out at the lodge for WiFi. Staff and other campers were very nice. Only negatives were loud music from a neighboring campground and only 4 showers for each sex for a pretty large campground. Still, the showers were included in the price, so that’s nice.

    Fun June camping

We had a really nice couple of mid week nights here. We couldn’t get two consecutive nights in a row so had to move spots, but it wasn’t a big deal. Our daughter braved a chilly swim and there were lots of dirt roads and little trails for the strider bikes. Bring bug spray, the mosquitos are out. They really go nuts when you first pull in but relax after a few minutes. Keep an eye out for bears. We saw a black bear across the road from the campground. The closest cell service is just outside of Seeley Lake.

    Glacier Campground

    Great Wooded Spot

We typically avoid private campgrounds. This one though was different. Amazing proximity to the west entrance of Glacier NP (but west side of Glacier NP is basically closed until July 1.) and a 1.5ish hour drive to the East gate and Two Medicine. We have a 25ft camper and the site was more than big enough. The camp sites were very well maintained but still felt like you were out in the woods camping. Good space between sites. Sites have a fire pit(only allow fires in their ring) and we did a water and electric hook up site. Dumping is free or you can pay them to come and dump your tanks on site. There is also a laundry room. We were very impressed.

Spacious and clean sites. They have many different size spaces all listed on their website. The restrooms have showers, there is a laundry area, they have a little store, and serve food at the cafe. There is a hiking trail, but we didn't get to explore it. This was right outside Glacier National Park. We stayed here to start the Going to the Sun road. At the site, you can opt to have electrical and water hookups if you need them.
