    Mountain View RV Park

    Good basecamp for adventuring

I can't add much to Julie M.'s review. Very thorough and accurate. AT&T service was just ok. We did visit Hungry Horse Dam. Beautiful and the story behind the name is interesting. Montana Distillery is close by in Coram and a good brewery/restaurant in Columbia Falls. Lots of things for kids and teens close by. Amazing Fun Center, Glacier Highline, Putt Putt in West Glacier and many others. Really nice place for a basecamp.

    Glacier Campground

    Gorgeous!!!

Montana is absolutely gorgeous! I may be biased because I go to college in Montana, but there is so many great outdoor activities. The mountains and scenery are my favorite. Some college friends and I have done a lot of camping over the years together, and Glacier Campground was one of my favorites. The campground is awesome, and is a few exits down from the Glacier National Park. Trees surround you within the campground, which was great because my friends and I had hammocks so those were easy to hook up with all the trees! One thing we really enjoyed doing was we did some horse back riding! There is a place nearby where you can go and do this. We had a blast!! There are many lakes and rivers too that are great. We enjoyed swimming in the lake, and also rented some kayaks at a local shop a few miles away. The campground does offer spots for tents, RVs and they also have cabins. We chose to tent because we are poor college students :). Maybe at some point we would try renting a cabin because they looked pretty fun. We didn't reserve our spot ahead of time, but we were able to get a spot still. It was in the spring time, so I'm sure if it was in the summer months you might want to call and make a reservation. Each campsite does have a table and fire pit which came in handy for us. We only stayed for the weekend, but wish we could have stayed longer to do some hiking. Because Glacier National Park is right around the corner, I know they have great hikes. If you are into hiking, I would definitely research hikes in that area. I can't wait to come back!!

Moose Creek RV Resort and Bed & Breakfast

    Nice Campground

We loved this campground. The staff were helpful and they had a variety of sites. We had an asphalt pad, but some were gravel. There were tent spaces as well. The store was nicely stocked and the bathrooms were typical. There were games for the kids and a sauna for the adults. It’s very close to the West entrance to Glacier National Park. We found fun things to do in nearby Hungry Horse, CowY, and Columbia Falls.

Bowman Lake Campground — Glacier National Park

Off the beaten path and beautiful

When I say off the beaten path I should really be saying unpaved path. Make sure you have good shock absorbers on your vehicle, as it is miles and miles of dirt roads to get here.

Once you arrive the lake itself is spectacular. The campground is right next to it, and some of the campsites have an amazing view. We had plenty of shade (there are a lot of trees).

Warning: I experienced more mosquito bites here than at any other spot in Montana. Bring your repellant!

    Mountain View RV Park

    Great spot to stay!

Great place to stay. Big grassy area in the middle of the RV park with picnic tables, great for walking dogs or just relaxing in the grass. There is also a small basketball court. Minimal bugs- just a few knats that would seek out the lights at night. Site was level and just enough space for trailer and truck(a bit crowded but worked), full sun, no shade and a picnic table. Splitter on the water spiket provided. Light road noise from hwy nearby, but not bad. Customer service was nice and accommodating.$2 wash/$2 dryer so a little high, but the laundry services were clean. Gravel back-in site, asphalt roads, great for strolling around in the evening.

We stayed for 7 days so paid for 6 and the 7th was free. They also accept Good Sam members.

The wifi was a tad slow, but for the most part worked pretty good. Hotspot on cell for video calls and Netflix though.

Close to the grocery(Super 1 Foods) and 2 miles from the rodeo grounds and Blue Moon Nite Club where they have a weekly Thursday Rodeo in the summer. It was fun! Very accessible to Whitefish, Kalispell, downtown Columbia Falls, Hungry Horse, and Glacier National Park.*The cajun restaurant in Whitefish Tupelo Grille was awesome!!

    Super Clean

Great campground nestled in lodgepole pines. Campground was relatively quiet despite its close proximity to the highway. Everything was very clean and organized. Camp host was friendly. It is very close to the West entrance of Glacier National Park. If you need a day to relax outside of the park there are plenty of fun activities for the kids to do. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone.

    Tuchuck

    Quiet spot by creek

This is a great campsite.  The pit toilet is clean and it is set up as a horse camp.  Ramps for loading horses and trough for feeding.  Plenty of space for tents and small campers but as noted before, the road from Polebridge is a little tough for RVs.

Bowman Lake Campground — Glacier National Park

Fun spot to see one of the cooler views in Glacier

Cool spot to hang around for a couple days. The 3 hikes right off the campground are pretty cool with the Bowman lake trial being the easiest. Relatively busy campground while I was there. With the first come first served, lots of people drive through looking for a place. The view of the lake from the campgrounds beach area is awesome. It was pretty smoky while I was there but that’s summer in Montana.

Located in northwestern Montana at an elevation of approximately 3,100 feet, the area experiences warm summer days with cool nights and moderate winter snowfall. Several campgrounds in this region cater specifically to equestrian campers with dedicated facilities for horses and riders.

What to do

Trail riding from camp: Multiple trailheads directly connect from Tuchuck to forest trails. "The road from Polebridge is a little tough for RVs. Much better road eastbound from Eureka side. Nice camp for a tent camp or camper. Creek close. Beautiful mountains getting there from Eureka," notes one camper.

Day trips to Bowman Lake: From equestrian facilities near Stryker, Bowman Lake in Glacier National Park makes a worthwhile day trip at about 35 miles away. A visitor to Bowman Lake Campground shares, "Bowman Lake has to be one of my most favorite locations in Glacier Park. Bowman Lake has a wonderful hiking trail (26.2 mile round trip) located here."

Backcountry exploration: The Fairview Ranger Station area offers additional trails for experienced riders. "My family and I stayed here for a week, if you're looking to get away from it all, this is definitely the place. We can't wait for our next vacation!" explains a visitor to Fairview Ranger Station.

What campers like

Accessible river locations: Horse camping sites near Stryker offer proximity to water sources. At Glacier Rim River Access, a camper reports, "River was very deep and a beautiful swim! However it's a heavily travelled road and the boat ramp was being used quite often."

Quiet camping atmosphere: Many equestrian campers appreciate the peaceful setting away from busier tourist areas. One visitor to Mountain View RV Park shared, "Great place to stay. Big grassy area in the middle of the RV park with picnic tables, great for walking dogs or just relaxing in the grass."

Night skies for stargazing: The limited light pollution creates excellent stargazing opportunities. A camper at Tuchuck mentioned, "This is a great campsite. The pit toilet is clean and it is set up as a horse camp. Ramps for loading horses and trough for feeding. Plenty of space for tents and small campers."

What you should know

Forest service road conditions: Roads accessing horse campgrounds around Stryker vary in quality. A Tuchuck visitor warns, "Rough road going west from Polebridge not suitable for RVs. Much better road eastbound from Eureka side."

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly amenities: Some horse-friendly campgrounds offer activities beyond trail riding. At Heritage Cabin Property, a camper reports, "Located with Kootenai National Forest all around and GNP West entrance just an hour and a half drive, Heritage Cabin and Heritage Park Campground has been the chosen jumping off point for many explorers."

Budget for supplies: Stock up on essentials before arrival as remote horse camps have limited services. Bring sufficient water for both people and horses.

Bug protection: Summer months bring mosquitoes to equestrian camping areas. One visitor to Bowman Lake Campground warns, "We experienced more mosquito bites here than at any other spot in Montana. Bring your repellant!"

Tips from RVers

RV length limitations: Many equestrian campgrounds near Stryker accommodate smaller rigs only. A visitor at Moose Creek RV Resort advises, "We loved this campground. Generator restrictions: Check generator policies at your chosen horse camp as many enforce quiet hours or limit generator use.

Dump station access: Plan ahead for waste disposal as equestrian campgrounds may lack dump stations. A Moose Creek visitor noted, "The store was nicely stocked and the bathrooms were typical. There were games for the kids and a sauna for the adults. It's very close to the West entrance to Glacier National Park."
